About the role
As an IT Field Service Technician, you will make an impact by supporting manufacturing and warehouse operations, ensuring shop floor systems remain reliable, secure, and efficient. This role blends hands-on support with continuous improvement, helping reduce downtime, strengthen standardization, and support technology integrations that directly impact production and user experience. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Manager.

In this role, you will:
• Provide advanced 3rd level technical support across end-user and manufacturing environments, exceeding SLA metrics and maintaining production continuity including after-hours support as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across shop floor technologies including PLC-connected devices, handheld scanners, label/laser/multifunction printers, and workstations, performing root cause analysis to eliminate recurring incidents.
• Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software across network, server, and end-user systems in alignment with enterprise standards.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on project initiatives, M&A integrations, and system improvements while vetting shop floor processes for compliance with Networking and Security policies.
• Follow and promote ITIL practices across incident, problem, and change management, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts including standardization, security, and reliability.
• Support enterprise initiatives such as the Windows 11 migration and participate in the development of Field Services standards.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Farmington, CT.

What you need to have to be considered:
• 4+ years of experience supporting manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments with a strong understanding of shop floor IT systems including PLC-connected devices, handheld scanners, and label/laser/multifunction printers.
• High-level knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11, macOS, and Linux (Ubuntu), with proficiency across Microsoft 365, legacy Office Suites, and mobile platforms including iOS, Android, and Windows CE.
• Hands-on experience with PC hardware troubleshooting, serial-based technologies, and familiarity with network, server, telephony, and basic AV support.
• Strong root cause analysis skills with exposure to process improvement, security controls, and change management, combined with the ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and operate independently in fast-paced cross-functional environments.
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

These will help you stand out:
• Network+ certification or equivalent, with experience in manufacturing system integrations, M&A environments, or large-scale OS migrations such as Windows 11.
• Knowledge of IT security standards specific to manufacturing environments and exposure to enterprise IT architecture and a broad range of business applications.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until May 29, 2026
The annual salary for this position is between USD $60,500 - $71,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
