ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build scalable Java microservices and RESTful APIs with a clear line of sight to drive customer value.
• Develop responsive, accessible React frontends instrumented with telemetry from day one, so product decisions are grounded in real usage data.
• Partner with product managers, designers and fellow engineers from the earliest stages of discovery to challenge assumptions, surfacing trade-offs, and shaping the solution.
• Break down complex problems into iterative deliverables that ship value early and often
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies (planning, refinement, retrospectives) and contribute to how the team works.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve productivity across the product life cycle.
• Build shared components, common API contracts, and reusable platform libraries.
• Instrument feature flags and telemetry to support reliable A/B and multivariate experiments.
• Write thorough unit tests, enforce coverage and quality gates.
• Integrate SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, and secrets detection into CI/CD. Apply OWASP Top 10 mitigations across all services and APIs as default practice.
• Build Measure Learn through Real User Monitoring: Take ownership of features beyond deployment - measuring adoption, monitoring metrics, and iterating based on user feedback and data
• Apply sound engineering and product judgement when balancing pace, quality, and risk; make a clear recommendation and own the outcome
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the technical and product landscape and actively identify opportunities to innovate.
MUST-HAVE SKILLS
• Strong Java (Java 17+) with Spring Boot and microservices; production-grade REST API design with versioning, fault tolerance, and OpenAPI documentation as standard.
• Solid Advanced Javascript, React, NodeJS, ES6, Typescript, component architecture, hooks, state management, HTML, CSS for accessible, performant, and Responsive Design.
• Awareness of working in a DevSecOps model – setting up pipelines and infrastructure using Terraform or Cloudformation scripts.
• Hands-on AWS across core services (ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch); cloud security applied by default.
• Active user of AI-assisted development tools. Strong ability to validate, test, and take full ownership of AI-generated code.
• Practical DevSecOps: Awareness of pipeline integration with SAST/DAST tools, automated testing, quality gates, and secrets management.
• Working knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and responsible AI engineering, including AI-specific vulnerabilities such as prompt injection and data leakage.
• Observability ownership: structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, alerting, and SLI definition for services in production using tools such as Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Strong understanding on Relational databases, NoSQL databases and caching strategies.
• Proven work experience in Agile Product teams delivering customer outcomes.
• Track record of taking features end-to-end, from problem definition through production support.
• Strong written and verbal communication, being able to explain technical challenges to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience building software solutions & products for the Energy Retail sector and strong foundations on Utilities Industries Domain.
