Lead Developer- Apigee
About the role
As a Lead Developer, you will make an impact by enabling and accelerating Apigee onboarding for line-of-business applications through scalable proxy, policy, and shared flow solutions. You will be a valued member of the Threat & Vulnerability Management (TVM) team and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive secure and enterprise-grade API development.
In this role, you will:
• Lead the design and development of Apigee proxies for line-of-business applications, establishing development best practices and mentoring team members.
• Architect and implement Apigee policies for security, rate limiting, and transformation, and design reusable shared flows for enterprise-wide API patterns.
• Implement robust API security controls within the Apigee platform, including OAuth and JWT standards.
• Manage GitHub integration for version control and CI/CD pipelines, applying sound branching strategies.
• Lead Node.js development for custom API logic and integrations, and conduct thorough API testing using Postman and related methodologies.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3–4 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, Ontario. What you need to have to be considered
• 8+ years of experience in API Development or Software Engineering.
• Expert-level knowledge of Apigee proxy, policy, and shared flow design.
• Expert proficiency in Node.js for API development.
• Deep experience with GitHub, branching strategies, and CI/CD integration.
• Strong understanding of API security principles, OAuth, and JWT.
• Proficiency with Postman and API testing methodologies.
These will help you stand out
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor development teams in an enterprise environment.
• Proven track record of working effectively with cross-functional teams and translating technical concepts for diverse audiences.
• Experience with Threat & Vulnerability Management practices or security-focused API governance.
