About the role
As Director of Process Excellence and Field Operations Transformation, you will lead complex operational improvement and digital transformation initiatives for clients with large-scale, field-based operations. You will redesign processes, improve workforce productivity, and deliver measurable business outcomes by collaborating with clients and cross-functional teams across automation, analytics, and technology.
In this role, you will
- Apply deep industry knowledge to shape digital transformation strategies for clients with complex, field-based operations.
- Propose value-added solutions based on Process Reimagine elements and an understanding of clients’ business needs, and secure stakeholder agreement.
- Proactively gather customer feedback, represent the client’s perspective in internal discussions, and advocate for solutions that support the client’s objectives.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of changes in clients’ businesses and adjust the value proposition accordingly, balancing client interests with those of Cognizant.
- Build and maintain positive, long-term strategic relationships that support business goals within, across, and outside the organization.
- Develop strategies for resource utilization and operational cost reduction through process optimization, system integration, policy review, forecasting, and prioritization.
- Create a stretch-goal work environment by establishing enablers such as performance management, rewards, and targeted career paths.
- Build processes, systems, and forums that identify opportunities to improve business performance.
- Build systems that leverage synergies across business units and cross-functional teams, including IPA, Analytics, and IT, to deliver commitments.
- Recognize and reward customer-focused behaviors and foster a customer-oriented approach across the team.
- Communicate relevant business information in decision-making forums, ensuring decisions are made with full knowledge of the issues; engage clients and stakeholders to generate buy-in at the overall business level.
- Communicate effectively across cultures and with global clients and stakeholders, representing the organization in appropriate forums.
- Develop persuasive and impactful communications around new ideas, tailored effectively to the intended audience.
- Provide formal and informal coaching to client and internal teams.
- Lead proposal development, including effort estimates for project work; lead pre-sales and post-sales support; and lead the development of domain collateral.
Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Washington, DC. What you need to have to be considered
- Must have at least 17 years of overall work experience, including a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Must have project-managed high-impact automation and analytics initiatives from initiation through completion.
- Proven experience in risk management, including risk identification, mitigation planning, and governance for large-scale operational or transformation programs.
- Excellent experience managing the full RPA, automation, and analytics lifecycle.
- Must have excellent analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to independently develop solutions for complex business requirements.
These will help you stand out
- Experience within telecommunications, logistics, transportation, aviation, supply chain, or another field-operations-intensive industry known for complex field operations or large-scale service delivery.
- Must have experience in the relevant domain; experience with a recognized KPO is preferred.
- Master Black Belt certification from ASQ or another recognized certifying organization.
- Experience supporting dynamic operating environments in which customer needs, service requirements, and operational conditions evolve rapidly, including knowledge of risk, compliance, and critical-path management within operationally sensitive industries.
- Experience supporting sales pursuits, transformation proposals, solution presentations, and executive-level client discussions.
- Experience leading transformation initiatives involving RPA, intelligent automation, analytics, or system integration.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual base salary for this position is between $ 190,000–$ 215,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
