Job Description

We are seeking a strong Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with hands-on experience working with SQL, Databricks, large-volume datasets, and data-intensive delivery initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep business analysis skills combined with strong data profiling, data quality, ETL/data transformation, and data governance knowledge to support end-to-end solution delivery.
· Articulate business needs, problem statements, business objectives, and strategic alignment to ensure accurate and complete business requirements in support of the business case.
· Own the delivery of high-level and detailed requirements, including technical specifications, source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, and data-oriented acceptance criteria.
· Partner with business, technology, data engineering, QA, and platform teams to translate business needs into scalable data and system requirements.
· Profile large and complex datasets using SQL, Databricks notebooks, and other enterprise tools to analyze data patterns, identify anomalies, validate data readiness, and surface upstream data issues.
· Work with ETL and data engineering teams to define, validate, and document data transformation logic, mapping rules, lineage, reconciliation requirements, and downstream data consumption needs.
· Support initiatives involving large volumes of structured and semi-structured data across enterprise platforms, ensuring performance, usability, and traceability of requirements.
· Define and validate data quality requirements including completeness, accuracy, consistency, uniqueness, timeliness, reconciliation, and exception handling.
· Collaborate with teams to identify data quality issues, root causes, control points, and remediation actions during analysis, development, testing, and implementation.
· Contribute to solution design discussions involving data encryption, masking, tokenization, key data protection controls, and secure handling of sensitive data in transit and at rest.
· Ensure requirements align with enterprise governance, compliance, security, and risk standards, especially for regulated and sensitive data domains.
· Take ownership of requirements management, communication, traceability, and change impact assessment throughout the project lifecycle.
· Identify delivery risks and issues related to data sourcing, transformation, quality, controls, security, and operational readiness; proactively escalate and support mitigation planning.
· Support implementation and post-implementation activities including data validation, defect triage, issue analysis, and production readiness.
· Provide concise status updates on work packages, dependencies, risks, and decisions to project managers, sponsors, and stakeholders.

· Drive clarity on data-related work packages, including scope, constraints, dependencies, and risks for each initiative.
· Provide recommendations based on end-to-end customer and data flow impacts, including upstream/downstream system considerations.
· Lead requirements deliverables that support business outcomes while ensuring data usability, integrity, and compliance.
· Communicate significant changes affecting requirements, data quality, transformation logic, or delivery timelines to key stakeholders.
· Partner with business and project teams to resolve issues impacting requirements, data readiness, profiling outcomes, or solution design.
Shareholder
· Lead requirements management for data-centric projects of varying complexity, size, and regulatory impact.
· Facilitate structured elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation, and management of business and system requirements.
· Document current-state and future-state processes, data flows, interfaces, control points, and operational impacts.
· Establish and maintain end-to-end traceability across business requirements, technical requirements, transformation rules, test cases, and implementation outcomes.
· Collaborate with technology partners to support system design, ETL/data transformation design, testing strategy, reconciliation approach, and implementation planning.
· Identify and manage risks, assumptions, dependencies, and constraints related to data sourcing, profiling, transformation, quality, and security.
· Contribute to compliance, security, and risk assessments, including controls required for encrypted or sensitive data handling.
Job Requirements
Core Requirements
· Strong Business Systems Analyst experience in data-centric projects involving large volumes of data, enterprise data platforms, and complex stakeholder environments.
· Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries for data analysis, profiling, validation, reconciliation, and issue investigation.
· Hands-on experience using Databricks for data profiling, exploratory analysis, validation of data transformations, and working with large-scale datasets.
· Experience defining and documenting ETL / ELT processes, source-to-target mapping, transformation logic, business rules, and data lineage.
· Strong understanding of data quality concepts, controls, and metrics, including completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, reconciliation, and exception management.
· Experience identifying, analyzing, and remediating data quality issues in collaboration with upstream and downstream teams.
· Knowledge of data security and data protection principles, including data encryption concepts, masking/tokenization awareness, secure data handling, and control considerations for sensitive data.
· Ability to work closely with data engineers, architects, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and compliant solutions.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess impacts across systems, processes, data flows, and business outcomes.
· Experience supporting testing, reconciliation, defect analysis, implementation readiness, and post-production stabilization activities.

Breadth & Depth
· Experience working on data-centric fraud, risk, regulatory, or enterprise transformation initiatives with multiple stakeholders across lines of business.
· Strong understanding of business systems analysis practices across the full project lifecycle.
· Demonstrated experience profiling large datasets using SQL, Databricks notebooks, Python notebooks, and/or Excel.
· Practical experience working with large-scale data ingestion, ETL/data transformation, reconciliation, and control frameworks.
· Ability to work independently as a senior or lead BSA and guide others within area of expertise.
· Ability to identify and resolve complex data and requirements issues across multiple teams.
Additional Information
Experience & Education
· Undergraduate degree in a technical, engineering, information systems, data, or finance-related discipline.
· 8+ years of related Business Systems Analysis experience, with a strong focus on data-intensive initiatives.
· Experience in financial services, fraud, risk, compliance, or regulated environments is an asset.
· Azure and/or Databricks certifications are considered assets.
· Basic to intermediate Python knowledge for data analysis or profiling is an asset.
