About the role
As an IDMS Database Administrator (DBA), you will make an impact by ensuring the stability, performance, and integrity of IDMS systems and related software. You will be a valued member of the infrastructure/mainframe team and work collaboratively with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders to support critical database operations.
In this role, you will:
- Execute IDMS system programming, including software installation and applying fixes
- Perform problem determination and resolution for IDMS system software, related products, utilities, and tools
- Administer and maintain IDMS systems, including backups, system start-up/shutdown, and corrupt data recovery
- Prepare and implement policies for disk storage setup, CPU resource consumption limits, and backup strategy for IDMS subsystem objects
- Conduct R&D and proof-of-concept work for new IDMS features, reporting long-term cost-benefit findings to senior management

What you need to have to be considered
- Strong knowledge of RDBMS concepts and IDMS system architecture
- Experience with IDMS software upgrades and IDMS utilities (Backup, Reorg, Recovery, Load, Unload, etc.)
- Experience with complete system-level backup and recovery
- Proficiency in creation and management of databases, tablespaces, tables, and indexes
- Knowledge of basic IDMS DB2 commands, security management, and space management
These will help you stand out
- Experience with ITIL Change and Configuration Management, including moving updates through staging environments
- Proven ability in ITIL Incident/Problem Management — identifying, determining, and resolving product issues in collaboration with requestors
- Background in performance tuning and monitoring DBA housekeeping jobs, deadlock/timeout detection, and resolution
