Role Overview

Cognizant is seeking an experienced MES Developer – Rockwell FactoryTalk PharmaSuite to join our Life Sciences Manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, configuring, and supporting Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions using Rockwell FactoryTalk PharmaSuite. You will play a key role in enabling digital manufacturing initiatives, supporting compliant manufacturing operations, and driving integration between enterprise and shop-floor systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with MES development, Electronic Batch Records (EBR), system integrations, and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes within regulated GxP environments.


Work Model

This position follows a hybrid work model. Associates are expected to work from a Cognizant office, client site, or designated work location as required by business needs, while also having the flexibility to work remotely for part of the work week.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, configure, deploy, and maintain Rockwell FactoryTalk PharmaSuite (FTPS) and FactoryTalk ProductionCentre (FTPC) MES applications.
  • Author, configure, validate, and maintain Electronic Batch Records (EBRs) to support and enforce manufacturing workflows.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, validation, automation, and business stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into MES solutions.
  • Develop and support integrations between MES, ERP systems (including SAP), and plant-floor systems such as SCADA, PLCs, and other automation platforms.
  • Perform unit testing, system testing, troubleshooting, and defect resolution prior to production deployment.
  • Investigate and resolve data integrity issues, system defects, application errors, and performance concerns.
  • Support deployment, validation, and change management activities within regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Create and maintain system design documentation, configuration specifications, and support documentation.
  • Participate in application enhancements, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing production support and technical expertise to manufacturing operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Hands-on experience developing and configuring Rockwell FactoryTalk PharmaSuite (FTPS) solutions.
  • Experience designing, authoring, and maintaining Electronic Batch Records (EBRs).
  • Strong understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) architecture and implementation.
  • Advanced SQL development and database management experience.
  • Experience developing and supporting RESTful APIs and web services.
  • Experience integrating MES platforms with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Experience working within GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FactoryTalk ProductionCentre (FTPC).
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device manufacturing organizations.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, PLC, and industrial automation technologies.
  • Experience with Computer System Validation (CSV) and validated systems.
  • Knowledge of ISA-95 manufacturing integration standards.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge

Candidates should demonstrate knowledge and experience with:

  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • GAMP 5 guidelines
  • FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance requirements
  • Computer System Validation (CSV)
  • Data Integrity principles within validated environments

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is anticipated to be between $95,000 and $130,000 USD, depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.

In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for:

  • Annual performance-based bonus
  • Merit-based compensation increases
  • Employee referral bonuses, where applicable
