Job Summary
As a Product Testing Web QA Team Lead, you will lead a team of Web QA Specialists embedded across multiple Waze web product pillars. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing manual testing activities while providing technical leadership, coaching, stakeholder management, and delivery ownership. The role ensures high-quality releases across Waze web tools, web-enabled features, and browser-based experiences through effective test strategy, defect management, risk assessment, and continuous process improvement in a fast-paced release environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Web QA Specialist (Individual Contributor), you are responsible for leading comprehensive manual testing, managing bug life cycles, and performing front-end/ecosystem triage on Waze web applications and tools:
· Drive Test Planning, Execution, and Review:
o Review and approve test strategies, test plans, test cases, and execution results.
o Drive end-to-end manual testing for Health Check, Sanity, Functional, Regression, Exploratory, Integration, and UAT support.
· Manage Ecosystem Triage & Defect Management:
o Manage defect lifecycle, triage discussions, root cause analysis, and release readiness.
· Client-on-Web Validation: Support browser-based app experiences (such as native app features embedded in Waze Application web pages) alongside standard web layouts.
· Lead High-Frequency Release Support:
o Lead production validation, release support, and incident management during high-frequency deployments.
· Promote Collaborative Alignment & Knowledge Sharing:
o Promote collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance testability and advance best practices.
o Drive continuous improvement of web-testing processes, documentation, and participate in cross-functional training with multiple peers for comprehensive multi-platform coverage over time.
· Own QA Task Management:
o Own sprint QA planning, resource allocation, prioritization, and delivery commitments and coordinate with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Program Managers, Automation QA, and cross-functional stakeholders.
· Drive Team Growth and Development :
o Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Web QA Specialists through regular feedback, performance management, and career development.
o Support hiring, onboarding, knowledge sharing, and succession planning.
Job Requirements
· Core Web QA Expertise:
o Extensive experience in manual web testing processes, QA methodologies, and test artifact design (creating detailed test cases, checklists, and plans from requirements). Strong mastery of manual testing types (exploratory, usability, regression, integration, ad-hoc).
· Web Technologies & Browser Triage:
o Strong understanding of how web applications work (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP protocols) and strong hands-on capability to inspect elements, analyze DevTools, and review network logs to isolate root causes.
· Defect Lifecycle & Problem Solving:
o Extensive Experience leading release testing in Agile/Scrum environments.
o Strong expertise in manual Web QA methodologies, test design, and defect management.
o Strong Experience with Jira or equivalent defect tracking tools.
· Collaboration & Communication:
o Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
· Critical Thinking
o Strong analytical, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
· Leadership
o Strong leadership experience managing QA teams to support multiple workstreams and supporting the team as well on their work and development.
Preferred Qualifications
· Hybrid/Responsive Web Testing: Experience testing responsive mobile-web designs, native mobile applications interacting with web interfaces, or "Client-on-Web" features.
· Deployment Support: Experience supporting high-frequency deployments and continuous delivery models.
· Web Performance Monitoring: Basic experience using browser inspection and analysis utilities (e.g., Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights).
· Waze Ecosystem Familiarity: Experience with Waze-specific platforms (WME, livemap.waze.com, Dexter) is a strong plus.
· Automation Exposure: Basic familiarity with automation concepts or web automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) is an asset (hands-on coding is not required).
· Leadership Experience: Strong experience mentoring QA engineers.
