We are looking for experienced Playwright QA Automation Engineer to join our QEA team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in automation frameworks, API and data validation, and AI-assisted automation. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and ensuring the quality and reliability of applications across UI and API layers.
In this role, you will
- Design, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end test automation frameworks using Playwright.
- Develop robust UI and API test suites to validate complex web applications, microservices, and backend integrations.
- Develop and maintain API testing strategies, validating integrations, functionality, security, and data accuracy.
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with developers to resolve issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, automation efficiency, and overall QA processes.
- Troubleshoot automation failures and provide detailed test execution reports.
- Define, monitor, and report on key quality metrics, identifying opportunities for process improvement and risk reduction.

What you need to have to be considered
- 6+ years of experience in QA Automation and Software Testing, with strong hands-on expertise in Playwright using TypeScript.
- Must have 3+ years in building hybrid or custom automation frameworks using Playwright (alongside proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Java).
- Must have experience working in agile teams using BDD, Cucumber, Github action and Jenkins.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks and test suites.
- Strong practical experience validating REST APIs, microservices, and handling payloads/JSON schemas.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes
- Must have experience working in agile teams using BDD, Cucumber, Github action and Jenkins.

Total compensation
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 65,000 – 90,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
