About the role
As a Software Engineer – Azure DevOps, you will make an impact by modernizing and scaling a mission‑critical healthcare platform used to process millions of claims daily. You will be a valued member of the Cognizant TriZetto Product Engineering team and collaborate closely with software engineers, QA analysts, and product teams to re‑architect a large legacy application into a fully cloud‑native, Azure‑based solution.
This role supports a major modernization initiative for TriZetto’s Denials and Contract Management platform, transforming legacy systems into scalable microservices capable of supporting future healthcare demands.
In this role, you will:
- Analyze and modernize legacy T‑SQL stored procedures, redesigning them as scalable C# Azure microservices.
- Re‑engineer batch‑driven claims processing into high‑performance, cloud‑based workflows capable of scaling to 10M+ transactions per day.
- Design, build, test, and deploy Azure cloud infrastructure for automated deployments to test and production environments.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, and validate microservices against legacy system outputs.
- Collaborate closely with QA teams to ensure functional parity, performance, and data integrity throughout the modernization process.
- Produce clear technical documentation to support long‑term product maintenance and enhancement.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, design reviews, and code reviews to drive quality and consistency across the engineering team.
- Leverage AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate development and improve code quality.

What you need to have to be considered
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of experience in professional software development environments.
- Strong experience modernizing data‑intensive, high‑volume applications.
- Demonstrated expertise with Azure DevOps, including pipelines, boards, Git, and source control workflows.
- Hands‑on experience developing cloud‑native solutions using C# and Azure services.
- Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams.
These will help you stand out
- Experience migrating large‑scale legacy database applications to microservices architectures.
- Familiarity with SAFe Agile methodologies.
- Background in the healthcare payer or health plan domain.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines for large enterprise systems.
- Strong problem‑solving mindset and a collaborative, delivery‑focused approach.

The annual salary for this position will be in the range of $93K-$109K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
