Azure Cloud Consultant
Permanent Employment - Oslo, Norway
We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Azure Cloud Consultant to drive Azure adoption, platform enablement, and architectural alignment across the organization. This role focuses on helping teams successfully onboard, adopt, and use Azure in a standardized, secure, and scalable way—working in close partnership with application teams, business stakeholders, and the Cloud Center of Excellence.
The Azure Cloud Consultant plays a highly complementary role to our Cloud Management and Managed Services model. While managed services are responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and support of the Azure platform, this role focuses on architecture, standards, adoption guidance, and self-service enablement, ensuring teams can consume the platform effectively and consistently.
About the Team
The Azure Cloud Consultant is part of the Cloud Center of Excellence, working alongside platform, security, and Cloud Management teams. The role is key to shaping how Azure is adopted, consumed, and evolved, ensuring teams can move faster while remaining aligned with enterprise standards and governance.
Key Responsibilities
Azure Adoption & Enablement
• Lead Azure adoption initiatives by developing clear guidance, onboarding patterns, and rollout plans for application and product teams.
• Act as a trusted advisor to teams adopting Azure, helping them understand how to consume the platform, not how to operate it.
• Facilitate training, knowledge sharing, and communications to increase Azure maturity across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Platform Architecture & Standards
• Define, evolve, and communicate Azure Landing Zone–aligned architecture principles, standards, and best practices.
• Ensure new workloads and solutions align with governance, security, scalability, and compliance requirements.
• Partner with Cloud Management teams to ensure architectural intent is consistently translated into operational guardrails.
Subscription, Identity, and Vending Enablement
• Own and evolve Azure subscription vending and GitHub vending models, ensuring standardized, compliant, and low-friction onboarding for teams.
• Define patterns and guardrails for identity, access, and repository usage that balance autonomy with control.
• Enable self-service where possible, reducing manual coordination and support overhead.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
• Work closely with application teams, platform teams, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into clear platform guidance.
• Act as a bridge between strategic cloud architecture and practical team-level adoption.
• Coordinate with Cloud Management and Operations teams to ensure smooth handovers from onboarding to steady-state operations.
Documentation & Ways of Working
• Create and maintain user-facing documentation, including onboarding guides, reference architectures, and “how we work” manuals.
• Clarify roles and responsibilities between application teams, the Azure Cloud Consultant function, and managed services.
• Continuously improve documentation to support self-service and reduce dependency on operational support.
How This Role Complements Cloud Management Services
The Azure Cloud Consultant is not an operational or 24/7 support role. Instead, it complements managed cloud services by:
• Enabling adoption before workloads enter steady-state operations
• Defining architecture and standards, while managed services enforce and operate them
• Reducing operational load by improving platform clarity, automation, and self-service
• Aligning business needs and platform capabilities ahead of implementation
Together, the Azure Cloud Consultant and Cloud Management teams form a closed-loop model:
• The consultant focuses on adoption, architecture, and enablement
• Managed services focus on execution, reliability, and continuous operations
Qualifications
• Hands-on experience with Azure services and cloud architecture, with a strong understanding of Azure Landing Zone concepts.
• Experience designing or enabling self-service cloud platforms, onboarding models, or subscription vending solutions.
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work across application teams, platform teams, and business stakeholders.
• Proven ability to produce clear, structured documentation and guidance for diverse audiences.
• Comfort working in environments with managed services and shared responsibilities, focusing on enablement rather than operational ownership.
• Familiarity with GitHub and automation-driven workflows is a plus.
