We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated software engineer with expertise in Angular 21 for frontend development, combined with strong backend capabilities in Java and Python. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge web applications that leverage the latest technologies, including generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create scalable, efficient, and user-friendly solutions. Candidates should possess a deep understanding of modern frontend frameworks, backend integration, and AI-driven functionalities to contribute to the development of next-generation applications.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain full-stack features using Angular 21 (frontend) and Java / Python (backend).
- Build and consume RESTful and GraphQL APIs; ensure performance, reliability, and security.
- Integrate and leverage Generative AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, or equivalent) to accelerate development workflows.
- Contribute to the architecture and implementation of cloud-native microservices on AWS, Azure, or OpenShift.
- Write clean, testable code with appropriate unit, integration, and end-to-end test coverage.
- Containerize applications using Docker and participate in Kubernetes-based deployments.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, sprint planning, and technical design discussions.
What we expect
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Java and Python programming languages, with hands-on backend development experience.
- Proven experience with Angular 21 and modern frontend development practices including component-based architecture and reactive programming.
- Experience integrating and deploying generative AI solutions within software applications.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud-based deployments.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and agile development methodologies.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Experience building or integrating LLM-powered features into production systems
- Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
- Background in Banking domain is preferred

Salary and Other Compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $60,300 – $95,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
Working arrangements
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 4 days a week in a client office in Toronto, ON.
