Salesforce Technical Architect (Experience Cloud)
Location: Dallas, Texas (Hybrid) 4 days per week.
Role Overview
The Salesforce Technical Architect will be responsible for defining, governing, and delivering the end‑to‑end technical architecture for a new Salesforce Partner Portal built on Salesforce Experience Cloud (LWR framework) to support Dealer and Distributor management. The New Portal is replacing an old SharePoint/Angular based portal.
This role will lead solution design across Salesforce and multiple enterprise systems, including an external Content Management System (Adobe AEM), an external Document Management System (DMS), and SAP ERP, integrated via APIGEE and SAP CPI.
In addition to greenfield portal delivery, the architect will design and execute a portal transition strategy, enabling phased migration of capabilities and personas from an existing legacy portal while ensuring business continuity.
Responsibilities:
Experience Cloud & Front End Architecture
Own the Experience Cloud architecture using the LWR framework, ensuring scalability, performance, and security for external users.
Define component architecture using Lightning Web Components (LWC) optimized for LWR constraints.
Work with UX team to design role and persona based experiences for Dealers, Distributors, and internal support users.
ERP & Integration Architecture (SAP)
Work with Integration and SAP team to architect robust integrations between Salesforce and SAP ERP using APIGEE (API Gateway) and SAP CPI (middleware orchestration) for
Customer data synchronization (Dealers & Distributors – Accounts, Contacts, Users)
Job submission from Salesforce Partner Portal to SAP and orchestration of responses back to Salesforce
Exposure of SAP transactional data (Orders, Invoices) within the Partner Portal
Define data mapping, transformation, error handling, retries, reconciliation, and audit mechanisms.
Partner with SAP and integration teams to ensure scalability and SLA compliance.
CMS & Document Management Integration
Design scalable integration between Salesforce Experience Cloud and external CMS (Adobe AEM).
Architect secure integration with an external Document Management System, enabling retrieval and display of:
Product catalogs
Customer specific documents (contracts, invoices, statements, etc.)
Ensure document and content access adheres to user entitlements and security policies.
Identity, Access & Security Architecture
Architect Role based Access Control by using Microsoft Entra ID as primary enterprise IAM and Salesforce inbuild Sharing and Security tools
Portal Transition & Co Existence Strategy
Define and own the transition strategy from legacy partner portal to the new Salesforce Experience Cloud portal.
Design phased migration of:
Portal capabilities
User personas (Dealers, Distributors, Admins)
Data and integrations
Technical Governance & Delivery Leadership
Serve as the primary Salesforce technical authority for the program.
Define architecture principles, guardrails, and best practices across Salesforce and integrations.
Drive design reviews, technical decision logs, and architectural sign offs.
Guide development teams on complex Salesforce, LWC, and integration patterns.
Collaborate with Product Owners, UX teams, SAP teams, and enterprise architects.
Required Skills & Experience
8–12+ years of Salesforce platform experience with strong Experience Cloud focus , in designing and leading / guiding tech teams.
Hands on expertise with LWC, Experience Builder, and external user security models.
Deep understanding of Salesforce data modeling, sharing, and external user constraints.
Engages across architecture, design, build, test, transition, and go live phases.
Ability to Partners closely with enterprise architecture, security, SAP, and middleware teams.
Integration & Middleware
Experience integrating Salesforce with SAP ERP or equivalent enterprise ERPs.
Experience designing integrations using API led architecture using APIGEE (or similar) and SAP CPI (Pref)
Strong understanding of REST APIs, async patterns, eventing, and orchestration.
Nice to Have
Experience integrating Salesforce portals with Adobe AEM or similar CMS platforms.
Experience with Document Management Systems and secure document delivery patterns.
Understanding of headless or hybrid portal architectures.
Experience integrating Salesforce Experience Cloud with enterprise IAM solutions like Microsoft Entra ID
Prior experience in manufacturing, automotive, or dealer/distributor ecosystems.
Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $ 100,000– $ 160,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
