Our consultants work closely with clients while operating within established governance, security, and delivery frameworks.

Role Overview

As a GenAI Engineer – ITRAC | Senior Associate, you will design, build, and support Generative AI (GenAI) solutions across enterprise platforms within the telecommunications domain.

This is a hands-on engineering role, focused on developing reliable, secure, and scalable GenAI components—including services, orchestration layers, and retrieval pipelines—under the guidance of senior team members and architects.

The role supports Cliescale delivery programs, requiring adherence to standard SDLC, ITSM, security, and change management practices. You will also contribute to Cognizant’s agentification initiatives, supporting human-in-the-loop AI agents that automate repeatable tasks in a controlled, auditable manner.

Key Responsibilities

GenAI Application Engineering

  • Design, develop, and enhance GenAI applications, including APIs, orchestration workflows, retrieval components, and integrations with enterprise systems.
  • Build and maintain application code, automated tests, and basic monitoring to support performance and operational stability.
  • Support secure deployment of GenAI solutions across development, test, and production environments.
  • Follow established coding standards, quality controls, and security guidelines.

Telecommunications Domain Enablement

  • Apply GenAI capabilities to telecom use cases such as:
    • Agent assist
    • Knowledge retrieval
    • Incident triage
    • Order management
    • Billing enquiries
    • Operational workflow automation
  • Ensure solutions comply with telecom regulatory requirements, data privacy standards, and enterprise governance policies.

Agentification & Human-in-the-Loop AI Support

  • Support identification and implementation of high-volume, repeatable tasks suitable for AI-assisted execution.
  • Assist in configuring and validating human-in-the-loop agents using approved tools, workflows, and controls.
  • Contribute to incremental delivery (pilot to scale) by supporting:
    • Prompt and template updates
    • Evaluation harness execution
    • Retrieval content validation
    • Monitoring and reporting summaries
  • Escalate risks, quality concerns, and compliance issues to senior engineers or architects as needed.

Continuous Learning & Quality Engineering

  • Build working knowledge of GenAI techniques, including:
    • Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)
    • Prompt engineering and tuning
    • Model evaluation and quality metrics
    • Guardrails and safety controls
  • Participate in structured experiments to evaluate solution quality, safety, and business impact.
  • Apply feedback to improve reliability, usability, and governance alignment.

Enterprise Delivery & Governance

  • Operate effectively within large, regulated enterprise environments.
  • Adhere to standard SDLC and ITSM processes, including documentation, change controls, and security reviews.
  • Communicate progress clearly within the team and provide accurate, well-documented updates.

Proficiency Expectations

  • Senior Associate (target level):
    • Executes assigned engineering tasks independently with periodic guidance
    • Contributes to GenAI application builds and agent workflows
    • Validates GenAI outputs against defined quality and compliance standards
    • Documents work consistently and follows established engineering practices

Required Qualifications

  • Experience building or supporting enterprise-grade GenAI or AI-enabled applications.
  • Working experience with APIs, orchestration frameworks, and system integrations.
  • Exposure to telecommunications or similarly regulated industries.
  • Understanding of SDLC, ITSM, security, and change management principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Consulting or client-facing delivery experience in large enterprise environments.
