Responsibilities : -Design and develop complex batch and online applications using COBOL 400 and AS400 COBOL to deliver stable and scalable business solutions on the AS400 platform. -Optimize and maintain DB2 400 database objects by refining schemas queries and access patterns to ensure reliable performance for high volume enterprise workloads. -Analyze functional requirements from business partners and translate them into detailed technical specifications that align with AS400 architecture standards. -Review refactor and enhance existing COBOL 400 code to improve maintainability reduce incidents and support long term application sustainability. -Implement robust unit and integration testing strategies on AS400 components to ensure high quality releases during each day shift deployment cycle. -Coordinate with onsite and remote hybrid teams to plan work manage dependencies and ensure consistent progress on critical application enhancements. -Troubleshoot production issues in COBOL 400 and DB2 400 by performing structured root cause analysis and delivering permanent corrective changes. -Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for programs jobs and database structures to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing. -Collaborate with quality assurance and operations teams to streamline deployment processes and improve observability for AS400 based services. -Advise product owners and business analysts on feasible technical approaches that balance cost complexity and performance within AS400 constraints. -Apply knowledge of automotive industry processes when available to design features that improve supply chain visibility manufacturing accuracy and customer satisfaction. -Mentor less experienced team members on AS400 development practices and coding standards to raise overall technical capability across the group. -Engage in continuous improvement initiatives that modernize legacy components reduce manual effort and support the organization purpose of delivering reliable digital services for society. -Qualifications -Demonstrate professional experience between five and eight years in AS400 development with a strong focus on COBOL 400 and AS400 COBOL programming for enterprise environments. -Show deep hands on skill in DB2 400 including table design query optimization and use of embedded database access within COBOL programs. -Exhibit proven ability to work in a hybrid model with effective collaboration across onsite and remote teams using modern communication and tracking tools. -Display strong analytical and debugging skills for resolving complex issues in legacy codebases while maintaining system stability and data integrity. -Highlight any exposure to automotive industry domains such as manufacturing logistics or dealer management as an added advantage for this role. -Possess clear written and verbal communication skills that enable concise explanation of technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical partners. -Show familiarity with structured development practices including version control peer reviews and release management on AS400 platforms. 9.
