About the role
We are seeking a Technical Analyst - Observability & Platform Operations to join our enterprise Observability team. In this role, you will help drive monitoring excellence across the organization by partnering with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to improve visibility into application and platform performance.
In this role, you will:
- Partner with stakeholders to gather, document, and refine business and technical requirements.
- Translate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlog items.
- Analyze logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and telemetry data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Utilize Dynatrace and Azure monitoring tools to investigate application and platform performance.
- Create and execute basic DQL queries for reporting, troubleshooting, and operational analysis.
- Validate monitoring configurations, dashboards, and observability solutions before production deployment.
- Collaborate with SREs, engineering teams, and support organizations to deliver observability solutions.
- Support Incident and Problem Management activities through data analysis and operational insights.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement in monitoring, observability, and operational processes.

What you need to have to be considered:
- 7+ years of experience in Technical Analysis, Business Systems Analysis, Production Support, Operations, or related technical roles.
- Experience with Dynatrace or a comparable observability platform.
- Strong understanding of observability concepts, including logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, alerting, and distributed tracing.
- Working knowledge of Azure cloud services and monitoring capabilities.
- Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements.
- Ability to analyze technical issues independently across cloud and hybrid environments.
- Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting Agile delivery processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage both technical and business stakeholders.
These will help you stand out:
- Experience with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.
- Knowledge of Dynatrace Query Language (DQL) and Kusto Query Language (KQL).
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and modern observability practices.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale production environments.
- Knowledge of Incident Management, Problem Management, and ITIL processes.
- Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
- Relevant Azure, Dynatrace, Business Analysis, or ITIL certifications.

Salary and compensation:
The annual salary for this position will be between $72,000 to $82,000 per year depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
