AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN RELEASE ENGINEER - Tires
Description:
You will manage and work with the Design, Development, Launch and Maintenance of desired vehicle Tires for Genuine Accessory Products.
The role will be to manage existing commodities and develop future designs from inception through launch of the product to end of life of the vehicle line ensuring that new designs meet Design Rules and Requirements.
Part designs can require the development and completion of Robustness documents (like boundary diagrams, DFMEAs, SCCAFs).
Project management skills are necessary to be successful in this role as it will involve a number of vehicle lines, commodities and parts.
Services entail vast depth of knowledge and expertise in implications of data and taking actions based on those, as well as have a passion for the lifetime value of a customer. Accessories products generate additional sales of vehicles, parts, accessories and services.
Deliverables:
o Engineer may need to support Core Engineering for development, sign-off / approval and release of Design Rules specifically related to their commodity.
· Research requirements data base, Warranty Data analysis, Regulation research
· Correct release of products
· Evaluations (fit ups, reviews and test assessments) on vehicles
· Completion and uploading of approved installation instructions sheets
· Creation and completion of a new design’s engineering documentation (including DVP, CDP, Engineering Milestone Checklist and/or Carry Over assessments).
· Deliver product within the agreed upon launch timing
· Support the resolution of all issues identified during development and launch of the product.
· Uploading of all design related documentation including any evaluations/assessments, test reports, DVP&R, completed Engineering Milestone Checklists and/or Carry Over assessments
· Training will be required in key areas at start-up of the position
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Science Degree Engineering Discipline
· 5+ years’ experience in design and release of functional components and systems integration
· Familiarity with engineering and design of automotive parts and systems
· Working knowledge of Team Center and Vis Mockup
· Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills
· Experience with resolving complex issues and effectively communicating to management
Preferred Qualifications:
· Understanding of automotive vehicle program timing
· Knowledge of Ford Systems: FEDE, WERS, iPDL, TeamCenterChange Management, GCMS and others.
· Experience developing, designing, releasing, and validating vehicle accessory products
· Experience with CAD and physical schematics
· Technical aptitude, desire to learn
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work collaboratively with other teams
· Knowledge of engineering disciplines; Six Sigma, DFMEA, DVP, Certification Testing, GD&T, DFM, Variation Analysis
