About the role

We are seeking a Lead Java Developer to drive the design and delivery of modern enterprise applications. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud technologies, and AI-driven solutions to build scalable platforms that support critical business initiatives. You will also provide technical leadership, mentor development teams, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, and support enterprise applications using Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
  • Lead the architecture and development of REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Build and integrate AI Agents and AI-powered capabilities into enterprise applications.
  • Develop event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka and scalable batch processing jobs.
  • Design and optimize data solutions using Hibernate, Oracle, and Cassandra.
  • Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and engineering best practices.
  • Partner with architects, product managers, and engineering teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
  • Support applications throughout development, deployment, and production operations

Work model: Hybrid

What you need to have to be considered:

  • 8+ years of experience developing enterprise applications with Java and J2EE.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and RESTful services.
  • Experience designing microservices and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and batch processing solutions.
  • Strong database experience with Oracle, Cassandra, and Hibernate.
  • Experience building and supporting cloud-based applications.
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor development teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

These will help you stand out:

  • Experience developing AI Agents or AI-enabled applications.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.
  • Strong background in scalable, high-volume enterprise applications.
  • Experience leading digital transformation or modernization initiatives.
  • Relevant Java, Cloud, or Architecture certifications.

Salary and compensation:

The annual salary for this position will be between $82,000 to 93,500 per year depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
