About the role

As a Lead QA Automation Engineer, you will make an impact by defining and implementing the test automation strategy for enterprise loan servicing applications, beginning with mission-critical platforms. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with product teams, software development leads, architects, business partners, and DevOps teams to improve software quality and accelerate delivery.

In this role, you will:

Develop and execute an enterprise test automation strategy aligned with software development, quality engineering, and business objectives.

Design scalable automation frameworks and test suites for regression, smoke, sanity, API, mobile, and performance testing while ensuring test coverage, traceability, and reusability.

Establish automation success metrics, measure automation effectiveness and return on investment, and communicate progress and results to leadership.

Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools while defining requirements for test data, test environments, execution, defect tracking, and reporting.

Partner with product, development, architecture, and business teams to prioritize automation, support in-sprint testing, estimate delivery efforts, and drive continuous process improvements throughout the software development lifecycle.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring three days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Coppell, Texas. What you need to have to be considered

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

6+ years of experience leading manual and automated testing programs for large, complex enterprise applications, including at least four years of hands-on test automation experience.

Hands-on experience designing, developing, implementing, and executing automated test scripts using Selenium-based frameworks and at least one programming language, such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#.

Experience developing test automation strategies and frameworks covering functional, regression, smoke, sanity, API, and performance testing, with knowledge of Behavior-Driven Development or Test-Driven Development practices.

Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD and engineering tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Jira, Bamboo, Git, GitHub, or similar platforms.

Experience with API testing tools such as Postman and performance or load-testing tools such as JMeter.

Strong knowledge of software development, lifecycle practices, test planning, defect management, test reporting, effort estimation, and test automation delivery.

These will help you stand out

Experience with mobile test automation using Appium.

Experience with scriptless, robotic, or commercial automation platforms, particularly Qualitia.

Experience with Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, or other scripting and programming languages.

Experience supporting mortgage servicing, loan servicing, banking, or other financial services applications.

Experience introducing in-sprint automation and measuring automation effectiveness or return on investment.
