Job Summary
This role is for a senior developer focused on designing testing and optimizing robust application interfaces and data workflows in a bioinformatics environment using API testing analytics and XML to support scientific and clinical research teams while working from office in a day shift schedule within a global multinational company.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross functional bioinformatics teams to design and test reliable application interfaces that enable secure and efficient exchange of scientific data using structured XML representations and well defined service contracts.
- Develop and maintain automated API testing suites that validate functional correctness performance and reliability of services that support large scale analytical pipelines in bioinformatics programs.
- Implement comprehensive analytics routines on API performance and data usage patterns to identify stability risks latency bottlenecks and opportunities for optimization across research and clinical workflows.
- Create and refine XML schemas and related validation rules that ensure data consistency readability and interoperability across internal platforms and external collaborator systems in the bioinformatics domain.
- Document technical designs test strategies and data interface specifications in a clear and structured manner to support maintainability onboarding and knowledge sharing across global engineering and bioinformatics teams.
- Collaborate with product owners data scientists and bioinformatics specialists to translate research and regulatory requirements into testable API contracts and analytics features that are aligned with organizational goals.
- Execute thorough regression and integration testing for new and updated APIs to ensure that scientific applications and data pipelines operate reliably in the production environment without disrupting downstream analyses.
- Analyze production incidents related to API behavior or XML data quality perform detailed root cause investigations and implement durable fixes and preventive test coverage to reduce recurrence and improve system resilience.
- Optimize queries service payloads and XML structures to improve response times resource utilization and overall user experience for researchers and clinicians working with complex biological datasets.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and security teams to ensure that API testing approaches analytics solutions and data exchange mechanisms comply with company security policies and applicable bioinformatics data standards.
- Prepare and present concise technical summaries metrics dashboards and insights derived from analytics on service usage and data flows to inform planning prioritization and continuous improvement decisions.
- Support code reviews test case reviews and data model reviews to maintain high quality standards across APIs analytics components and XML based data definitions while mentoring peers on good testing practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development and testing processes by proposing tools frameworks and practices that enhance productivity quality and reproducibility in bioinformatics software delivery.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate strong experience in designing testing and maintaining APIs including hands on work with automated API test frameworks request validation and service contract verification in complex environments.
- Show proven expertise working with XML including schema design transformation and validation in support of data exchange for scientific or analytical applications.
- Apply solid analytics skills to interpret service logs performance metrics and usage data in order to drive decisions that improve reliability scalability and value delivery for stakeholders.
- Bring practical exposure to bioinformatics or life sciences domains with an understanding of how software systems support data driven research sequencing workflows or clinical interpretation use cases.
- Use programming proficiency in at least one major language and associated test libraries to build maintainable test harnesses utilities and data processing components used in daily development work.
- Exhibit experience working in structured software development environments that follow iterative delivery version control code review and defect management practices for enterprise grade systems.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non technical partners explaining complex API behaviors XML structures and analytics findings in a clear and collaborative manner that supports informed decisions.
Certifications Required
Certification in API testing or software testing and a relevant bioinformatics or data analytics certification
