Job Summary
We are seeking a GCP Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform. This role focuses on developing robust ETL/ELT workflows, managing large-scale data processing, and enabling analytics through optimized BigQuery data warehouses. You will collaborate with analytics and BI teams to deliver high-quality, business-driven data solutions. The position requires strong expertise in GCP data services, data pipeline automation, and performance optimization.
In this role, you will:
· Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines on GCP using Dataflow and related services.
· Develop and manage ETL/ELT workflows using Dataform and BigQuery SQL pipelines.
· Implement data ingestion, transformation, and processing for both batch and streaming data workloads.
· Design, develop, and optimize data warehouse solutions in BigQuery for reporting and analytics.
· Ensure data quality, validation, and governance across data pipelines and datasets.
· Optimize performance and cost efficiency of queries and data processing pipelines.
· Collaborate with data analysts, BI teams, and stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.
· Implement monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting mechanisms to ensure pipeline reliability.
· Automate workflows and deployments using GCP tools such as Cloud Composer and CI/CD pipelines.
· Maintain documentation for data architecture, pipelines, and data models.
What you need to have to be considered
· 4–8 years of experience in data engineering with strong exposure to Google Cloud Platform.
· Hands-on expertise with GCP services such as Dataflow, BigQuery, Dataform, and Cloud Composer.
· Strong proficiency in SQL and experience building ELT/ETL pipelines.
· Experience with batch and streaming data processing frameworks.
· Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling best practices.
· Experience with pipeline monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.
· Familiarity with CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices is a plus.
· Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills with the ability to work in Agile environments.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $[95,500 - 109,000] depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
