About the role
As a Full Stack Lead Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, high‑performance, cloud‑native applications. You will be a valued member of the engineering team, collaborating with product owners, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders to build modern banking platforms using microservices, AI-assisted development, and DevOps practices.
10-12+ years of experience in IT
Strong expertise in Java (Spring Boot, microservices) and Angular or Node.js

In this role, you will:
Design, code, execute, and support various applications
Code and troubleshoot Python and/or Java REST API and related software
Help lead end-to-end architecture and design of scalable full stack solutions (backend and frontend)
Drive hands-on development using Java (Spring Boot) and Angular/Node.js
Drive cloud and DevOps adoption across AWS/Azure/OpenShift with Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD (GitHub Actions)
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring at least 4 days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON. What you need to have to be considered:
10-12+ years of experience in IT
Strong expertise in Java (Spring Boot, microservices) and Angular or Node.js
5 or more years of experience in developing and supporting production-level software;
Creating production REST APIs and related technologies in a large organization;
Developing large, scalable, distributed systems running in Cloud environment;
Working with fully automated CI/CD pipeline using GitHub or equivalent;
Working with data processing using JSON, SQL and NoSQL storage systems;
Working with Docker and Kubernetes; web application and REST API security;
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or OpenShift) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
These will help you stand out:
Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot or similar)
Strong understanding of performance, security, and scalability (NFRs)
Experience in Agile environments and stakeholder collaboration
Track record of driving innovation, automation, and reducing technical debt

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or equivalent
Total compensation:

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD $74,250 to $117,500 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
