Full Stack Lead Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking a Full Stack Lead Engineer with strong hands-on engineering, architecture ownership, and team leadership experience. The ideal candidate will lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance, cloud-native applications while mentoring engineers, driving delivery excellence, and supporting modern banking platforms. This role requires strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, frontend technologies, cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and AI-assisted development tools.
Roles and Responsibilities
· Lead end-to-end architecture and design for scalable, reusable, cloud-native full stack solutions covering backend services and frontend integration.
· Drive hands-on development of critical features using Java, Spring Boot, Angular and/or Node.js, ensuring high-quality and maintainable code.
· Act as the technical anchor for architecture choices, technology selection, system design, and engineering best practices.
· Mentor and lead engineering teams through code reviews, design guidance, testing practices, and technical coaching.
· Collaborate with Product Owners, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
· Lead cloud and DevOps adoption using AWS, Azure, OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
· Promote AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot to improve engineering productivity and code quality.
· Ensure performance, security, scalability, reliability, and other non-functional requirements are met across solutions.
· Support production systems by monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing applications using tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
· Drive continuous improvement, automation, process optimization, and technical debt reduction.
Required Qualifications:
· 12+ years of experience in full stack development.
· Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
· Experience with Angular and/or Node.js for frontend or full stack application development.
· Strong architecture and system design experience for enterprise applications.
· Hands-on cloud experience with AWS, Azure, and/or OpenShift.
· Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application deployments.
· Strong exposure to CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions.
· Expertise in REST APIs, design patterns, and scalable application design.
· Strong experience with Git, including branching and merging strategies.
· Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
· Proven team leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance experience.
· Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot or similar tools.
Preferred Skills:
· Experience working in banking or financial services environments.
· Strong understanding of Agile delivery practices and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
· Ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Experience improving engineering productivity through automation and modern development practices.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $74K – $117K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
