Ab Initio Administrator
About the role
As an Ab Initio Administrator, you will make an impact by supporting and optimizing enterprise data integration and data warehousing platforms that power critical business operations and analytics. You will be a valued member of the Data Engineering team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, product owners, data architects, database administrators, and delivery teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing data solutions for the Property & Casualty Insurance domain.
In this role, you will:
- Administer, support, and optimize Ab Initio environments while ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient execution of enterprise data integration workloads.
- Design and maintain scalable ETL and data warehousing solutions using Ab Initio, SQL, and PL/SQL to support operational reporting, analytics, and business intelligence requirements.
- Collaborate with business and technology teams to translate business requirements into high-quality data integration architectures focused on performance, resiliency, and data quality.
- Establish and promote best practices for ETL development, scheduling, metadata management, data validation, monitoring, and operational support.
- Partner with infrastructure, database, and production support teams to improve platform performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in a Cognizant or client office in Hartford, CT. What you need to have to be considered
- Strong experience in Ab Initio Administration, data warehousing, ETL development, SQL, and PL/SQL.
- Experience designing, deploying, and supporting large-scale data integration and data warehousing solutions.
- Hands-on experience with external scheduling tools, job orchestration, workload management, and dependency management.
- Strong knowledge of data architecture principles, ETL best practices, data governance, and data quality controls.
- Experience optimizing SQL queries, PL/SQL procedures, and batch processing workloads for performance and scalability.
- Ability to perform impact analysis, troubleshoot complex production issues, and support enterprise data platforms.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, architects, infrastructure teams, database administrators, and business stakeholders.
- Strong communication, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
These will help you stand out
- Experience supporting Property & Casualty Insurance data platforms, including policy, claims, billing, underwriting, and risk analytics domains.
- Knowledge of enterprise data governance, metadata management, lineage, reconciliation, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience designing reusable Ab Initio components, graph frameworks, and high-volume batch processing solutions.
- Familiarity with modern cloud-based data platforms and data modernization initiatives.
- Experience driving automation and operational efficiency improvements within enterprise data environments.
- Professional certifications such as Ab Initio Professional Accreditation, Oracle Database Certification, Snowflake Data Engineer Certification, or other relevant cloud and data engineering credentials.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $110,000- $135,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
