Job Summary:
We are seeking a Data Engineer specializing in Coalesce to own and deliver the data transformation layer as part of a large-scale data platform modernization for an Australian payments company. This role focuses on building and maintaining SQL-based transformation pipelines in Coalesce, implementing Bronze-to-Silver cleansing rules and Silver-to-Gold business logic within a medallion architecture on Snowflake. The ideal candidate has strong Coalesce expertise and can create reusable node templates that accelerate data product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
· Design and build transformation pipelines in Coalesce, covering Bronze-to-Silver data cleansing, deduplication, and standardization.
· Implement Silver-to-Gold transformation logic including star schema construction, business rule application, and aggregation layers.
· Create and maintain reusable Coalesce node templates for common transformation patterns across the platform.
· Configure Coalesce environments, workspace management, and environment promotion (Dev → Test → Prod).
· Optimize transformation performance through efficient SQL patterns and Snowflake compute management.
· Collaborate with Data Architects to translate data models and data product specifications into Coalesce transformation graphs.
· Implement data quality checks and validation logic within the transformation pipeline.
· Integrate Coalesce deployments into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
· Document transformation logic, node configurations, and data lineage within the pipeline.
Required Skills & Experience:
· Deep hands-on expertise with Coalesce for SQL-based transformations, node templates, graph design, and environment management.
· Strong proficiency in Snowflake DDL/DML, Dynamic Tables, and query optimization for transformation workloads.
· Expert-level SQL for complex transformations, CTEs, window functions, pivoting, merge statements, and analytical queries.
· Understanding of Bronze / Silver / Gold patterns and how Coalesce maps to each layer.
· Working knowledge of dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas) and Data Vault 2.0 concepts.
· Experience with version control and deployment automation for transformation code.
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have):
· Experience building data products following spec-driven development methodologies.
· Familiarity with Fivetran and how ingestion feeds into the Coalesce transformation layer.
· Knowledge of dbt as an alternative transformation tool.
· Experience in the payments, fintech, or banking domain.
· Familiarity with data quality and data observability tools.
· Snowflake SnowPro or Coalesce certification.
