Job Summary
Web manual QA Specialists will be embedded within specific web pillars. In this role, QA specialists are responsible for designing detailed test plans, performing systematic tests execution, and isolating defects. By utilizing dedicated tracking tools, QA Specialist will manage and monitor the bug life cycle to guarantee that the final product adheres to company quality standards across both web tools and web-related features or pages within the Waze Mobile Application. Web Manual QA Specialists will execute comprehensive manual tests to maintain operational continuity across high-frequency web release cycles. Specialists must effectively triage workloads, managing both scheduled and unplanned critical/important issues, while providing clear stakeholder communication and maintaining high agility during frequent context switching.
Key Responsibilities
As a Web QA Specialist (Individual Contributor), you are responsible for executing comprehensive manual testing, managing bug life cycles, and performing front-end/ecosystem triage on applications and tools:
- Test Case Creation & Execution: Create, maintain, and execute detailed manual test cases, checklists, and test plans mapped to product requirements. Own end-to-end web release cycles tests such as: Health-Check, Sanity, Regression tests
- Ecosystem Triage & Defect Management: Debug web-specific issues, inspect elements, and capture detailed browser logs to isolate front-end UI bugs from back-end API failures. Actively monitor, reproduce, and close out web-specific bugs inside Bug management tool. Document defects with clear, concise, and reproducible steps.
- Client-on-Web Validation: Support browser-based app experiences (such as native app features embedded in Waze Application web pages) alongside standard web layouts.
- High-Frequency Release Support: Adapt to and support rapid version deployments and continuous software releases, particularly in fast-paced environments
- Collaborative Alignment & Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance testability and advance best practices. Contribute to the improvement of web-testing processes, documentation, and participate in cross-functional training with multiple peers for comprehensive multi-platform coverage over time.
Job Requirements
- Core Web QA Expertise: Proven experience in manual web testing processes, QA methodologies, and test artifact design (creating detailed test cases, checklists, and plans from requirements). Strong mastery of manual testing types (exploratory, usability, regression, integration, ad-hoc).
- Web Technologies & Browser Triage: Solid understanding of how web applications work (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP protocols) and hands-on capability to inspect elements, analyze DevTools, and review network logs to isolate root causes.
- Defect Lifecycle & Problem Solving: Demonstrated experience with defect-tracking systems. Managing issues from discovery to verification, coupled with strong problem-solving skills to diagnose complex web issues.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills, with a track record of working effectively in remote, global, and cross-functional teams (SWEs, PMs, senior QA).
- Hybrid/Responsive Web Testing: Experience testing responsive mobile-web designs, native mobile applications interacting with web interfaces, or "Client-on-Web" features.
- Deployment Support: Experience supporting high-frequency deployments and continuous delivery models.
- Web Performance Monitoring: Basic experience using browser inspection and analysis utilities (e.g., Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights).
- Waze Ecosystem Familiarity: Experience with Waze-specific platforms (WME, livemap.waze.com, Dexter) is a strong plus.
- Automation Exposure: Basic familiarity with automation concepts or web automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) is an asset (hands-on coding is not required).
