Senior Java Developer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer with strong expertise in modern Java technologies, microservices architecture, and AI-driven application development. In this role, you will design, develop, and support scalable enterprise applications while leveraging emerging AI technologies to enhance business processes and customer experiences.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build high-performing, secure, and cloud-enabled solutions that support critical business operations. This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative AI Agent implementations, distributed systems, and modern enterprise architecture using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, cloud services, and enterprise databases.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java/J2EE, modern Java, and Spring Framework.
• Build and support Spring Boot-based RESTful microservices.
• Develop AI Agent solutions and integrate AI capabilities into business applications.
• Design and implement data solutions using Hibernate, Oracle, and Cassandra.
• Develop batch processing jobs and event-driven applications using Kafka.
• Build scalable, secure, and cloud-enabled applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Troubleshoot application issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Work model: Hybrid

What you need to have to be considered:

• 7+ years of experience with Java/J2EE and modern Java versions.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Experience building or integrating AI-powered applications or AI Agents.
• Strong knowledge of Hibernate, Oracle, and Cassandra.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Experience developing cloud-based enterprise applications.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

These will help you stand out:

• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, and AI Agent frameworks.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Java, cloud, or AI-related certifications.

Salary and compensation:

The annual salary for this position will be between $82,000 to 93,500 per year depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
