Senior Java FSE with Angular (Hybrid)

In this role, you will
- Design, develop, and maintain full stack web applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular
- Build RESTful APIs and integrate them with front-end components
- Develop responsive, reusable, and maintainable UI components using Angular (latest versions preferred-17+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support
- Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, QA, and DevOps teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and security
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests (JUnit, Jasmine/Karma)
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues as needed
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements

What you need to have to be considered
Backend:
- Strong hands-on experience with Java (8/11/17+)
- Experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot / Spring MVC / Spring Security
- RESTful API design and development
- Experience with Hibernate/JPA and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar)
- Familiarity with microservices architecture
Frontend:
- Strong hands-on experience with Angular (Angular 17+)
- Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3
- Experience with RxJS, NgRx, or other state management libraries (preferred)
- Experience consuming REST APIs from Angular applications
- Understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
General:
- Experience with Git and version control workflows
- Familiarity with build tools (Maven/Gradle) and package managers (npm/yarn)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar)
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus
- Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
These will help you stand out
- Experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration
- Exposure to message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine, Karma, Jest)
- Experience with API gateways and service mesh

Total compensation
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $49,000 – $95,500 (CAD) per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
