Sr. Mainframe Developer
Cognizant is seeking an experienced Sr. Mainframe Developer with 7+ years of strong expertise in mainframe technologies and Healthcare Claims processing. The successful candidate will design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise Claims applications while partnering with cross-functional and offshore teams to deliver scalable, efficient, and compliant solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement technical solutions for Claims applications by transforming business requirements into scalable, efficient, and compliant mainframe systems.
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain mainframe Claims applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, project managers, and support teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to offshore team members and coordinate onsite-offshore activities.
- Serve as a key point of contact for technical issue resolution.
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with established coding standards and best practices.
- Support SIT, UAT, production deployments, and post-implementation activities.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience with mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.
- Experience with Healthcare Claims Adjudication processes and related business workflows.
- Strong understanding of code migration and release management processes.
- Experience with package creation and code promotion across Development, Test, QA, and Production environments.
- Knowledge of post-deployment validation and backout procedures.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and offshore development teams.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 and $90,000, depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
