Senior Software Engineer
About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, secure, and resilient applications that support critical asset and wealth management business functions. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with product owners, business analysts, architects, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional technology teams to build modern cloud-based solutions for enterprise clients.
In This Role, You Will:
- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable microservices using Java 17 and Spring Boot to support asset and wealth management platforms.
- Build and enhance event-driven architectures using Kafka to enable reliable processing of transactions, market data, and client activities.
- Develop efficient data access solutions using SQL and MySQL/PL-SQL to support portfolio management, analytics, and reporting requirements.
- Integrate applications with AWS cloud services to deliver resilient, secure, and highly available solutions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Modernize legacy applications by refactoring and migrating functionality into microservices-based architectures.
- Implement automated testing practices, including unit, integration, and API testing, to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Monitor and optimize application performance through logging, metrics, and observability tools.
- Apply secure coding standards and engineering best practices to protect sensitive financial data and support regulatory compliance.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities to drive engineering excellence.

What You Need to Have to Be Considered
- 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong expertise in Java 17 and object-oriented programming principles.
- Proven experience developing microservices and RESTful APIs using Spring Boot.
- Strong knowledge of Kafka, event-driven architectures, and distributed system design patterns.
- Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, relational database design, and performance tuning.
- Experience designing and deploying applications in AWS cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control, automated testing, CI/CD, and code reviews.
- Experience working within Asset and Wealth Management domains, including portfolios, orders, positions, reporting, and client servicing workflows.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with distributed teams in a global environment.

- Knowledge of wealth management or investment management platforms.
- Exposure to JavaScript and front-end integration for web-based applications.

- AWS certifications or cloud-related professional certifications.
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments supporting business-critical applications.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until September 2, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $68,000 - $114,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
