About the role

As a Senior Auditor – IT & Technology Audit (Cyber) within Global Internal Audit, you will support the Engagement Manager in planning, executing, and reporting IT and Cybersecurity audit engagements across audit, SOX, and advisory workstreams. You will work in a dynamic global environment, gaining diverse experiences across process and technology domains, leading cyber risk assessments, supervising junior team members, and engaging with functional heads and senior leaders. In this role, you will:

· Understand engagement objectives and assist the Engagement Manager in preparing the audit plan and testing procedures to meet review objectives.

· Gain a detailed understanding of relevant IT and business processes, systems, and controls; lead cyber risk assessments and controls evaluations, and identify opportunities to leverage data analytics.

· Perform engagements in accordance with planned scope and risk areas, aligned with budget expectations; supervise executives and junior team members, driving their accountability, timely execution, and knowledge sharing within the team.

· Ensure work paper documentation thoroughly supports and validates audit activities and findings; adhere to Corporate Audit Methodology and documentation requirements at all times.

· Assist in the assessment of identified gaps and areas for improvement, evaluate their significance and potential business impact, and propose practical and reasonable remediation steps; prepare audit reports and memos highlighting key risk exposures, noted issues, overall conclusions, and agreed-upon corrective actions.

· Drive discussions and agreements on detailed audit findings with the audit team and management prior to final report issuance; follow up with process owners for timely implementation of MAPs, escalating where required.

· Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders; ensure timely and accurate time tracking, and drive continuous self-development through relevant training, seminars, and professional certifications.

What you must have to be considered

· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or another technical domain, with at least 4 years of experience in IT and Cybersecurity audit – ideally a mix of time in a Big 4 public accounting firm and a large international audit and control function.

· Good understanding of the IIA International Professional Practices Framework, Internal Audit and Risk Management methodologies (e.g. COSO), and frameworks such as COBIT, ISO, and NIST; experience with risk-based auditing and Sarbanes-Oxley testing, preferably within the technology industry.

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines while working both independently and in a team environment.

· Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills; demonstrated thirst for knowledge and new experiences; highest professional standards, integrity, and ethical behavior.

· A strong sense of ownership, desire to create meaningful outcomes, and passion for work that serves a greater good for customers, communities, or global challenges.

These will help you succeed

· CISA, CISSP, or CISM certification is preferred; experience with or certification in IT audit tools is an advantage.

· Experience working within the technology industry and exposure to cyber audit engagements across a globally dispersed environment.

Work model

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring work a minimum of 3 days a week at Cognizant office in MEPZ, Tambaram, Chennai combined with remote work.
