Job Title- Snowflake Architect
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Architect to design, implement, and optimize scalable data solutions on the Snowflake Data Cloud platform. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud data warehousing, data architecture, and ETL/ELT processes, along with strong knowledge of modern data engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect end-to-end data solutions leveraging Snowflake and modern cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Develop and implement data models (star/snowflake schema, dimensional modeling).
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Snowpipe, dbt, Informatica, Matillion, or similar.
- Define and enforce data governance, security, and compliance frameworks using Snowflake features like RBAC and data masking.
- Optimize database performance, including query tuning, clustering, and partition strategies.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data scientists, and engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Lead migration projects from legacy systems to Snowflake.
- Implement data integration strategies for streaming and batch processing.
- Monitor and manage Snowflake environments to ensure cost optimization and performance efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and best practices guidance to data engineering teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering / data architecture.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake.
- Strong expertise in SQL and data modeling techniques.
- Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Proficiency in ETL/ELT tools and data integration frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and architecture.
- Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
- Knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $140-160Kdepending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
