About the role
As a Mainframe Developer, you will make an impact by designing, optimizing, and modernizing mission-critical healthcare payer systems that support claims processing, member management, eligibility, billing, and provider operations. You will be a valued member of the technology team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, developers, and operations teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and compliant mainframe solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Design and implement scalable mainframe architectures utilizing COBOL, CICS, VSAM, DB2, and JCL to support critical healthcare payer applications.
- Partner with business and product teams to translate payer business requirements into robust technical solutions that improve claims processing, member services, and operational efficiency.
- Optimize CICS transactions, VSAM data structures, and DB2 databases to enhance system performance, availability, and data integrity.
- Develop and maintain JCL workflows and COBOL applications supporting batch and online processing across payer platforms.
- Conduct architecture reviews, impact assessments, and performance evaluations to ensure solutions remain secure, maintainable, and aligned with evolving business and regulatory requirements.

What you need to have to be considered
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience designing and developing solutions using COBOL, CICS, VSAM, DB2, and JCL in enterprise mainframe environments.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare payer operations, including claims adjudication, eligibility determination, provider management, billing, and policy administration.
- Experience designing secure, scalable, and high-performance data solutions using DB2 and VSAM.
- Proven expertise developing and maintaining COBOL applications and JCL procedures for complex batch and online processing environments.
- Hands-on experience with CICS transaction processing, performance tuning, and system optimization to support business-critical applications.
