About the Role
As a Consulting Principal, Enterprise Architecture, you will make an impact by providing technology leadership and delivering high quality, creative, and insightful technology advice. You will be a valued member of the team and work collaboratively with managers, primary teams, and other stakeholders and clients.
In this role, you will:
- Shape, lead, and deliver value through technology advisory consultancy and guide transformational delivery engagements.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships at senior levels to enable consensus and shape technology direction.
- Lead the development and presentation of client proposals, collaborating with teams across the business.
- Develop collateral to support Technology Consulting ‘go to market’ propositions and service offerings.
- Support account teams in opportunity identification, qualification, and sales.
- Contribute to the development of practice members’ skills, including active coaching and mentoring of junior team members.
- Develop, implement, and refine frameworks to support business transformation proposals, including presentations, RFI/RFP content, methodologies, toolkits, and deliverables.

What You Must Have to Be Considered
- At least 5+ years’ experience leading architecture engagements and 3+ years’ experience as a Technical Design Authority.
- IT consulting experience or experience working for a system integrator in the public sector.
- Security Check (SC) clearance required; candidates must have been resident in the UK for 5 years. Successfully obtaining clearance is a condition of employment.
- Experience in organizing and running CTO Office TDA functions (e.g., TDA charter, operating model).
- Broad knowledge of technical architectures (cloud, distributed, monolithic).
- Good coverage of application, data, integration, infrastructure, and security domains.
- Demonstrable understanding of architecture governance (including waivers/deviations).
- Strong understanding of architecture design patterns (including integration anti-patterns).
- Strong understanding of modeling notation (e.g., ArchiMate, UML, BPMN).
- Management and recording of key design decisions (architecture repository).
- Strong communication skills, gravitas, and ability to exert influence in a complex stakeholder, multi-supplier, heterogeneous IT environment.
These Will Help You Succeed
- Familiarity with TOGAF (including ADM).
- Familiarity with Sparx EA.
- Familiarity with Agile methods (e.g., SCRUM, SAFe).
- Knowledge of analysis and design methods (e.g., Structured, OOAD).
- Ability to schedule and organize meetings, conduct technical architecture reviews, educate and advise development teams, accurately record design decisions, and research IT architecture and technology topics.
- Ability to manage people, navigate conflict, abstract complex themes, problem solve, distil key discussion points, organize work, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
