About the role

As a Senior Java Full Stack Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and supporting scalable enterprise applications and APIs while leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality. You will be a valued member of the engineering team, working collaboratively with architects, product owners, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and TypeScript.
  • Build, enhance, and support microservices and API-driven solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
  • Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Devin AI to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, and feature delivery.
  • Drive DevOps and cloud-native practices through CI/CD pipelines, automation, and deployment technologies across AWS and Kubernetes environments.
  • Mentor junior developers and collaborate with stakeholders to influence technical decisions and deliver high-quality solutions across multiple teams.

What you need to have to be considered

  • Strong hands-on experience in Java Full Stack Development with Spring Boot, Angular, and TypeScript.
  • Experience designing, building, and supporting RESTful APIs and microservices-based architectures.
  • Proven experience using GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and software quality.
  • Experience with cloud and DevOps technologies including AWS, Kubernetes/Rancher, Git, Maven, Jenkins, Harness, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, coding standards, testing methodologies, and code review practices.
  • Ability to validate, refine, and optimize AI-generated code while ensuring maintainability and security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with experience influencing technical direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior developers and support team growth.

These will help you stand out

  • Experience working with Devin AI or other autonomous AI software engineering tools.
  • Knowledge of prompt engineering techniques for AI-driven software development workflows.
  • Experience with API management platforms such as Apigee.
  • Exposure to AI-driven development practices including automated testing, code refactoring, and autonomous task execution.
  • Strong track record of driving cross-team collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Thought leadership with the ability to champion engineering best practices and innovation.

Salary and Other Compensation:

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $57,000 – $91,000 CAD per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
