About the role
As a Databricks Architect, you will make an impact by leading the design and implementation of enterprise-scale data platforms, architecting modern Lakehouse solutions using Databricks while enabling business users with scalable reporting, self-service analytics, and actionable insights through BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Microsoft Fabric. You will be a valued member of the Data & Analytics team and work collaboratively with data engineers, BI developers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
• Design enterprise-scale Lakehouse architectures using Databricks and Delta Lake, and define data platform strategies that align with business and analytics objectives.
• Lead migration initiatives from traditional data warehouses to modern cloud-native platforms, architecting batch, streaming, and real-time data processing solutions.
• Design scalable ETL/ELT frameworks using Databricks, PySpark, and Spark SQL, implementing Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) for data processing.
• Architect enterprise BI solutions using Power BI and Tableau, designing semantic models, data marts, and analytical datasets to enable self-service analytics.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to business and technology stakeholders, leading technical teams and conducting architecture reviews and technical governance sessions.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Houston, Texas.

What you need to have to be considered
• 10+ years of experience in Data & Analytics solutions, including 5+ years of architecture experience in cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark, Spark SQL, Delta Lake, and Data Lakehouse architecture.
• Extensive experience in data warehousing, data modeling, and ETL/ELT design.
• Proven experience architecting enterprise reporting solutions in Tableau and Power BI.
• Strong stakeholder management and solution architecture experience.

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Experience mentoring technical teams and participating in pre-sales, solutioning, and estimation activities.
