About the role
As a Senior Manager Consulting, Healthcare Payer, you will make an impact by leading business and technology transformation initiatives for healthcare payer clients. You will be a valued member of the Healthcare Consulting team and work collaboratively with client executives, business stakeholders, product owners, delivery teams, and quality assurance partners to translate complex business needs into effective, scalable technology solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Lead healthcare payer transformation initiatives by partnering with client stakeholders to define business priorities and translate complex requirements into clear functional and technical direction for IT and quality assurance teams.
- Provide senior-level delivery oversight across Agile programs, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, risk management, requirements governance, and iterative solution delivery.
- Guide the development and maintenance of user stories, acceptance criteria, traceability documentation, and delivery artifacts using JIRA, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technology outcomes.
- Lead collaboration across client, business, development, quality assurance, and geographically distributed delivery teams to promote requirements clarity, stakeholder alignment, quality outcomes, and on-time delivery.

What you must have to be considered
- 10+ years of experience in consulting, professional services, business transformation, or technology delivery, with significant experience in the Healthcare Payer domain.
- Demonstrated experience leading client-facing initiatives and translating complex business requirements into detailed functional and technical requirements for IT and quality assurance teams.
- Experience providing leadership and delivery oversight in Agile project environments, including requirements governance, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and cross-functional delivery.
- Hands-on experience using JIRA for requirements management, user stories, acceptance criteria, traceability, and Agile delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior client stakeholders and align technical and non-technical teams.
These will help you succeed
- Experience supporting healthcare payer platforms, systems, operations, or business processes.
- Consulting or advisory experience within healthcare payer or insurance environments.
- Ability to lead effectively across distributed teams, multiple workstreams, and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with close attention to quality and detail.

Compensation
The annual base salary for this position is $98,853 to $152,750 depending on experience and other qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
