Job Summary
Sr Quality Engineer role in a hybrid work model focusing on Automation Testing Karate Framework designing robust test strategies and automation frameworks using Java and Karate to ensure delivery of highly reliable enterprise applications. The role involves close collaboration with cross functional teams to improve product quality optimize test coverage and drive continuous improvement that supports business growth and a better experience for end users in the travel industry.
Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive test strategies and detailed test plans that cover functional regression integration and system validation by leveraging deep expertise in Java and Karate to ensure predictable and reliable product releases.
- Develop maintainable and scalable automation frameworks using Java and Karate that enable fast feedback cycles and consistent execution across environments thereby improving release confidence and reducing manual testing effort.
- Implement robust automated regression suites and continuously refine test cases based on defect trends and production incidents to enhance test coverage and prevent recurrence of critical issues.
- Collaborate closely with product owners engineers and business analysts in a hybrid work setting to clarify requirements identify edge cases and embed quality practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Analyze complex defects using root cause techniques synthesize findings into actionable recommendations and work with development teams to drive durable quality improvements that reduce customer impact.
- Monitor and optimize test execution pipelines in CI environments by tuning scripts managing test data and improving stability so that teams receive reliable quality signals during each build.
- Create detailed test data strategies including synthetic and boundary scenarios especially for airline related workflows when applicable to ensure realistic validation of booking pricing and operational flows.
- Review code and test design produced by peers and provide constructive feedback that strengthens automation reliability encourages reusable components and aligns with organizational quality standards.
- Prepare clear test reports and quality dashboards that translate technical metrics into meaningful insights for stakeholders enabling informed decisions on release readiness and risk management.
- Coordinate with environment support teams to ensure test environments configurations and integrations are available stable and representative of production conditions to minimize surprises after deployment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by proposing enhancements to tools processes and metrics and by sharing best practices in Java based test automation and Karate driven API validation.
- Guide junior quality engineers in adopting effective test design patterns using Java and Karate and support their growth through coaching on debugging techniques and disciplined test execution.
- Align daily quality engineering activities with the company mission to deliver safe reliable and efficient digital services that improve traveler experiences and increase trust in the organization offerings.
Qualifications
- Possess strong hands on experience in Java focused on building reusable test automation components and frameworks that support complex enterprise applications.
- Demonstrate deep practical expertise in Karate for API test automation including scenario design assertion modeling and integration into CI toolchains.
- Exhibit solid understanding of quality engineering principles such as risk based testing coverage analysis non functional considerations and test data management for large systems.
- Show familiarity with airline domain concepts including reservations schedules pricing and operational flows and effectively apply this knowledge to design realistic test scenarios when required.
- Apply working knowledge of hybrid collaboration practices using digital tools to coordinate test activities documentation and reporting with distributed product and engineering teams.
- Maintain strong analytical and problem solving abilities to interpret logs isolate issues across tiers and refine test approaches based on quantitative and qualitative feedback.
- Utilize experience with day shift operations to engage promptly with stakeholders across business hours ensuring timely clarification of requirements and swift handling of critical defects.
