Location: Hartford, Connecticut

Job Summary

Design and optimize complex infrastructure automation solutions for a global organization using Puppeteer and Puppet ensuring robust scalable and secure environments for hybrid work models. Collaborate with cross functional teams to standardize automation practices improve reporting consistency and enhance service reliability across day shift operations while minimizing manual intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end to end infrastructure automation solutions using Puppet and related IT automation tools to reduce manual efforts and improve operational consistency across hybrid environments.
  • Architect scalable and secure automation frameworks leveraging Puppeteer for infrastructure related tasks that require browser based interactions and validation workflows.
  • Standardize configuration management practices across servers and applications by defining reusable Puppet modules and manifests aligned with organizational policies and compliance needs.
  • Optimize existing automation pipelines by analyzing performance metrics and failure patterns to improve reliability speed of deployment and resource utilization across multiple environments.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams in day shift to gather infrastructure requirements and translate them into robust automation designs that support business continuity and growth.
  • Integrate automation solutions with existing monitoring and reporting processes to deliver clear visibility into infrastructure health and automate routine reporting activities when feasible.
  • Evaluate new features and versions of Puppet and Puppeteer to recommend incremental improvements that keep the automation stack modern secure and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Create detailed technical documentation for automation architectures Puppet configurations and Puppeteer scripts to support knowledge sharing and maintainability within the infrastructure team.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex automation issues in hybrid environments and drive root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and strengthen overall system resilience.
  • Coordinate infrastructure automation activities with stakeholders to ensure alignment with change management processes and minimize disruption during deployments and configuration updates.
  • Mentor less experienced team members on infrastructure automation concepts Puppet usage patterns and effective practices for scalable architecture design.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by proposing enhancements that reduce manual reporting overhead and streamline regular reporting activities for infrastructure operations.
  • Ensure automation solutions adhere to organizational security standards and regulatory requirements while enabling efficient day to day operations without travel obligations.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate extensive experience with Puppet and Puppet IT automation tools including designing complex manifests and reusable modules for large scale enterprise environments.
  • Possess strong practical expertise with Puppeteer for automating browser driven infrastructure validations and system interaction scenarios that support operational reporting.
  • Bring deep knowledge of infrastructure architecture principles across servers networks and cloud or virtualized platforms with a focus on automation and standardization.
  • Show solid understanding of regular reporting practices in infrastructure operations and the ability to design automation that supports accurate and timely reporting outputs.
  • Exhibit proficiency in scripting and core operating system administration to support integration of Puppet and Puppeteer within diverse technology stacks.
  • Have proven experience working in hybrid work models and coordinating with distributed teams during day shift operations to deliver reliable automation outcomes.

Certifications Required

Preferred certifications include Puppet Certified Professional or equivalent infrastructure automation certification.

The annual salary for this position is between $130,000- $160,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and is subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
