About the role
As a Data Architect, you will make an impact by designing and implementing scalable big data solutions that enable data-driven insights and innovation. You will be a valued member of the Data Engineering and Analytics team and work collaboratively with cross-functional business and technology stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
- Design and implement scalable big data solutions aligned with business objectives
- Architect, manage, and optimize large-scale data processing using AWS EMR
- Develop and maintain Python-based data processing and analytics solutions
- Integrate data from multiple sources while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability
- Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and performance optimization to support team success

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Mettawa, IL. What you need to have to be considered
- 12–16 years of experience in data engineering, big data, or data architecture roles
- Strong hands-on experience with big data technologies and enterprise-scale data platforms
- Proven expertise with AWS EMR for large-scale data processing
- Advanced proficiency in Python for data transformation, processing, and analysis
- Experience designing and implementing data architectures that support business needs

- Experience optimizing performance and cost for cloud-based big data workflows
- Ability to collaborate effectively across distributed and hybrid teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical challenges
- Experience mentoring or providing technical leadership to engineering teams

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until May 6, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $80,000 - $145,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
