About the role
We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst with strong expertise in API integrations to bridge business requirements and technical solutions. In this role, you will partner with business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to analyze systems, define integration requirements, and deliver scalable API-driven solutions. You will play a key role in improving business processes, documenting system designs, and ensuring successful implementation of modern integration solutions across the organization.
In this role, you will:
· Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications for API development and integration initiatives.
· Design and document system solutions utilizing RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and modern integration patterns.
· Collaborate with developers, architects, and business stakeholders to define API contracts, data models, and integration workflows.
· Conduct system impact assessments and create process flow diagrams, data mappings, and technical requirements documentation.
· Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, including test planning, test case development, and validation of API functionality and system integrations.
· Develop and maintain API standards, best practices, and system architecture documentation.
· Support production deployments and partner with technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve integration-related issues.
· Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance system performance and business efficiency.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto Canada. What you need to have to be considered
· 5+ years of experience in Business Systems Analysis or a related field.
· 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting API design, development, and integration projects.
· Strong understanding of RESTful API principles, authentication methods, and data formats such as JSON and XML.
· Experience with API design and testing tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or similar platforms.
· Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear technical documentation and specifications.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
· Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
This will help you stand out
· Experience working in microservices-based environments.
· Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and API governance best practices.
· Familiarity with cloud-based integration platforms and services.
· Experience supporting end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) projects.
· Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive successful business outcomes through technology solutions.
· Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies and tools.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $61,650 to $91,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
