About the role
As a Partner - Banking Risk and Core Banking Transformation Consulting, you will make an impact by driving strategic risk management and core banking transformation initiatives for multinational banking clients, optimizing processes, enhancing compliance and strengthening operational resilience. You will be a valued member of the Banking and Financial Services Consulting team and work collaboratively with client stakeholders across risk, finance, operations and technology, and clients.
In this role, you will
• Drive complex consulting engagements focused on enterprise risk management and core banking modernization to deliver measurable improvements in resilience, control effectiveness and regulatory compliance for global financial institutions.
• Develop and present strategic roadmaps for risk management and core banking transformation that align client business objectives with practical implementation milestones, optimized investment and long-term value creation.
• Oversee design of robust risk policies, governance structures and control mechanisms that strengthen credit risk, operational risk and liquidity risk management across core banking operations and supporting functions.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders across risk, finance, operations and technology to define target operating models that integrate modern core banking platforms with effective risk analytics and reporting capabilities.
• Mentor client and internal consulting teams by sharing deep domain knowledge and proven practices in risk management and core banking so that expertise is institutionalized and future initiatives benefit from consistent approaches.
• Consistently demonstrate the Cognizant Way to Lead through strategic agility, client value creation, AI-led innovation, disciplined execution, collaborative ecosystem building and amplifying human potential through a culture of growth, inclusion and effective human-AI collaboration.
Work model
At Cognizant, we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Amsterdam. What you must have to be considered
• Demonstrate extensive experience in risk management across credit, market, operational and liquidity areas, with the ability to translate regulatory expectations into practical frameworks and procedures.
• Possess strong hands-on exposure to core banking processes and systems including deposits, loans, payments and customer servicing, with a clear understanding of how technology and process design interact.
• Show proven capability in asset management operations such as trade processing, reconciliations, corporate actions and reporting, and apply this experience to strengthen operational controls and client outcomes.
• Exhibit advanced consulting skills in structured problem solving, stakeholder engagement and executive communication to shape decisions and drive adoption of recommended risk and core banking solutions.
• Apply deep familiarity with global banking regulations, prudential standards and industry risk guidelines to ensure proposed solutions remain compliant and forward-looking across jurisdictions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead with strategic vision, client-centric thinking, innovation, disciplined execution, collaboration and a commitment to developing people in line with the Cognizant Way to Lead.
• Proven track record of building trust, demonstrating ownership, exercising sound judgment and fostering an inclusive culture that supports growth and associate success.
These will help you succeed
• Experience leading hybrid delivery models that combine remote collaboration with client-site work while maintaining discipline around confidentiality, compliance and productivity.
• Ability to guide clients in assessing current risk frameworks and core banking processes to identify control gaps, operational inefficiencies and technology constraints that impact customer experience and regulatory confidence.
• Capability to direct diagnostic reviews of key banking processes including deposits, lending, payments and customer servicing to identify risk hotspots, process bottlenecks and opportunities for digitization and automation.
• Skill in defining standards for data quality, lineage and ethical use of data and analytics across banking and asset management operations to reinforce institutional integrity and societal confidence.
• Experience supporting change management strategies including stakeholder alignment, communication planning and capability building to sustain adoption of new risk management and core banking practices.
• Experience thriving in complex, fast-evolving environments by translating strategy into action, fostering cross-functional collaboration and championing continuous learning and curiosity.
