The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled MuleSoft Architect to design and lead enterprise integration solutions using MuleSoft's Anypoint Platform. This role is responsible for defining API-led architectures, ensuring scalable and secure integrations, collaborating with business and technical stakeholders, and providing technical leadership to delivery teams. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MuleSoft, cloud technologies, API management, and enterprise integration best practices.
Work Authorization:
Please note, this role is not able to offer visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future.
Work model:
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in San Francisco, CA. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.
In this role, you will:
· Design resilient cloud and enterprise integration architectures using MuleSoft and AWS Kiro, including specification-driven requirements, designs, implementation tasks, code, tests, and documentation for scalable utility solutions.
· Define and govern the end-to-end MuleSoft API lifecycle, from design and specification through development, testing, deployment, monitoring, versioning, and retirement, ensuring security, consistency, and reuse.
· Create integration blueprints, reference architectures, reusable assets, data models, and event-driven patterns for system interoperability, data exchange, outage management, and incident-response workflows.
· Establish architecture standards for API security, versioning, error handling, observability, performance, scalability, data lineage, regulatory compliance, and service-level objectives.
· Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, domain experts, development teams, and platform teams to translate complex utility requirements into practical technical designs and delivery roadmaps.
· Review implementations and optimize MuleSoft message flows, transformations, orchestration, connectors, and error handling to improve latency, throughput, maintainability, and operational resilience.
· Lead architectural reviews, technical workshops, incident root-cause analysis, and remediation planning across globally distributed teams in a hybrid, day-shift delivery model.
· Maintain API catalogs, dependency maps, architecture documentation, and operational guidance; evaluate emerging MuleSoft and AWS Kiro capabilities; and mentor teams to improve technical maturity and business continuity.
What you need to have to be considered
· Extensive enterprise architecture and integration experience, with proven delivery of resilient, secure, and scalable solutions for mission-critical workloads in multinational environments.
· Hands-on proficiency with AWS Kiro, including specification-driven development, requirements-to-design traceability, implementation planning, code and test generation, project standards, automation, and enterprise security controls.
· Deep expertise in MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and API lifecycle management, covering API design, governance, development, testing, deployment, policy enforcement, monitoring, versioning, and retirement.
· Advanced MuleSoft integration skills across API-led connectivity, connectors, flows, DataWeave transformations, orchestration, reusable assets, error handling, security policies, and heterogeneous enterprise systems.
· Practical utilities and outage-management domain knowledge, including fault detection, restoration workflows, operational communications, service continuity, data models, and regulatory constraints.
· Strong command of nonfunctional architecture requirements, including reliability, scalability, availability, observability, performance, security, logging, monitoring, alerting, and incident remediation.
· Excellent architecture governance, documentation, stakeholder communication, technical workshop facilitation, mentoring, and collaboration skills across distributed teams in a hybrid, day-shift model.
Preferred certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional and MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect, or equivalent cloud and enterprise integration credentials.
