Job Summary
Automotive Test Automation Engineer will drive end to end verification and validation activities for automotive systems by designing and executing robust test strategies using scripting expertise in Python Bash and CAPL while ensuring compliance with automotive protocols and quality standards to deliver safe reliable products that positively impact road safety and customer trust in a collaborative office based environment with occasional travel requirements
Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive verification and validation strategies for automotive systems using scripting experience in Python Bash and CAPL to ensure thorough functional and integration coverage across all product releases
- Develop maintain and optimize automated test scripts and frameworks tailored to automotive protocols to improve test efficiency repeatability and defect detection rates in day to day product assurance activities
- Execute structured test plans for auto verification and validation including regression performance and robustness testing to confirm that software and system behavior consistently meets defined safety and quality criteria
- Analyze test results and system logs to identify root causes of defects and anomalies then collaborate with cross functional engineering teams to drive timely resolution and continuous improvement of product quality
- Prepare clear and detailed test documentation including test cases test reports and traceability records to maintain audit ready evidence of verification and validation coverage for all assigned projects
- Apply deep understanding of automotive protocols to design realistic test scenarios that reflect real world vehicle and network conditions thereby increasing confidence in product reliability and field performance
- Coordinate closely with product development teams to review requirements architectures and designs ensuring that verification and validation needs are incorporated early in the lifecycle and that testability is maximized
- Support failure analysis activities by reproducing complex issues through targeted scripts and test setups and by providing actionable insights that help reduce future defects and enhance system robustness
- Plan and perform office based lab testing while managing occasional travel to customer or test sites when needed to execute on vehicle or integration tests under authentic operational environments
- Adhere to organization quality standards and industry regulations during all verification and validation activities ensuring that delivered automotive solutions contribute to safer transportation and improved user confidence
- Continuously refine test methodologies introduce new automation practices and adopt emerging automotive validation tools to increase productivity and shorten release cycles without compromising quality
- Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize defects based on impact risk and frequency enabling informed decisions that align product assurance outcomes with business goals and societal safety expectations
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to team members on scripting practices automotive protocols and systematic validation approaches fostering a culture of quality awareness and shared learning
Qualifications
- Demonstrate solid experience in scripting with Python Bash and CAPL applied to automated test development and execution within automotive verification and validation environments
- Bring strong knowledge of automotive protocols and communication interfaces enabling precise design of test cases that reflect actual vehicle and network behaviors under varied operating conditions
- Show proven hands on expertise in auto verification and validation processes including test planning test execution defect logging and coverage analysis for complex automotive products
- Exhibit familiarity with automotive testing tools hardware interfaces and lab setups supporting efficient execution of manual and automated tests in an office based environment with occasional travel
- Display ability to interpret requirements and design documents and translate them into clear test scenarios and automated scripts that ensure traceability and measurable coverage of system functionality
- Utilize effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with multidisciplinary teams ensuring that product assurance insights are integrated into development decisions and release readiness assessments
- Apply analytical and problem solving skills to diagnose intricate software and system issues based on test outcomes and logs ultimately contributing to safer and more reliable automotive solutions
Certifications Required
ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level or equivalent automotive testing certification preferred
