Senior Product Test Engineer

Job Summary

Serve as a senior product test engineer responsible for validating complex mainframe applications and migration initiatives for a global organization using expertise in Japanese language comprehension and translation to English to bridge requirements and defects and ensuring high quality delivery of property and casualty insurance systems in a hybrid day shift work model.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to interpret Japanese documentation and discussions into precise English test requirements that accurately reflect end user expectations and regulatory needs for core product functions.
• Design comprehensive test strategies for mainframe based applications that address functional flows integration touchpoints and non functional aspects in support of large scale application migration programs across hybrid environments.
• Develop detailed test scenarios and data sets for mainframe testing that validate transactional accuracy batch processing behavior and interface consistency ensuring reliable performance of insurance operations and financial reporting systems.
• Execute end to end test cycles on mainframe platforms including regression system and user acceptance tests while documenting clear and actionable defects that help teams quickly resolve issues before production release.
• Coordinate with application migration teams to verify cutover plans data conversion rules and coexistence scenarios helping to minimize disruption to business processes and maintain customer confidence during transitions.
• Review and refine Japanese source requirements design documents and test evidence to ensure translations into English are contextually correct and aligned with local regulatory and property and casualty insurance domain standards.
• Provide root cause analysis for complex defects found in mainframe environments tracing issues through data flows and job sequences and recommending targeted solutions that enhance system stability and maintainability.
• Collaborate with cross functional partners in a hybrid work model to prioritize defects optimize test coverage and align release schedules with business milestones enabling predictable and high quality delivery outcomes.
• Apply domain understanding of property and casualty insurance where relevant to validate rating logic policy lifecycle events claims processes and financial postings so that test coverage closely matches real world scenarios.
• Document test results and quality metrics in a structured format that supports audit needs provides transparency to stakeholders and demonstrates how rigorous mainframe testing safeguards customer data and operational integrity.
• Mentor junior testers in best practices for mainframe testing test design techniques and effective communication for Japanese to English translation in technology contexts thereby raising overall team capability and consistency.
• Engage in continuous improvement by reviewing past defects and production incidents refining test approaches for application migration initiatives and proposing process enhancements that reduce risk for future releases.
• Coordinate day shift activities with global stakeholders to ensure timely clarification of Japanese requirements alignment on test objectives and effective handoffs that maintain testing throughput without requiring travel.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate strong proficiency in understanding Japanese and translating technical and business content into clear and accurate English that supports creation of high quality test assets.
• Possess extensive hands on experience in mainframe testing including batch job validation online transaction testing data reconciliation and use of common mainframe tools to drive thorough coverage.
• Bring solid exposure to application migration projects with ability to articulate data mapping concepts environment differences and validation approaches that ensure integrity before and after migration.
• Show practical familiarity with mainframes as a technology stack including typical utilities job control practices and integration mechanisms sufficient to design effective tests for complex systems.
• Leverage beneficial domain experience in property and casualty insurance to understand core processes such as policy issuance endorsements billing and claims handling improving relevance of test cases.
• Operate effectively in a hybrid work model using collaboration platforms structured documentation practices and clear communication habits to coordinate test efforts across onsite and remote team members.

Certifications Required

Preferred certifications include ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst and domain focused insurance certifications related to property and casualty insurance.
