About the role
We are seeking a Senior Java Spring Boot Developer with 7+ years of experience building scalable, secure, and high-performing enterprise applications. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize modern backend solutions that support critical digital products and business capabilities for a global organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable software solutions that drive business growth and enhance customer experiences. Experience within the Cards & Payments domain is a plus.
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and optimize Java Spring Boot applications and microservices that support enterprise-scale digital products and platforms.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs, integrations, and reusable components while following software engineering best practices.
- Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability through testing, troubleshooting, code optimization, and continuous improvements.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, product teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Support deployments, code reviews, technical documentation, and secure coding practices across multiple environments.

What you need to have to be considered:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices Architecture.
- Strong expertise building RESTful APIs, integrations, and distributed systems using modern software development practices.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, transaction management, automated testing frameworks, and application performance tuning.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills within complex application environments.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working effectively within Agile and cross-functional teams.
These will help you stand out:
- Experience within the Cards & Payments domain, including authorization, settlement, fraud prevention, or transaction processing.
- Knowledge of Kafka, event-driven architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms and CI/CD practices.
- Exposure to large-scale digital transformation, modernization, or cloud migration initiatives.
- Relevant certifications in Java, Cloud, Microservices, or related technologies.

Salary and compensation:
The annual salary for this position will be between $82,000 to $93,500 per year depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
