Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Data System Analyst who can make an immediate impact in a complex enterprise data environment. The successful candidate will work autonomously, take ownership of discovery and analysis, and translate business needs into clear, high-quality analytical artefacts that development and testing teams can use without delay.
This role requires a confident practitioner who can engage directly with senior business stakeholders and technology teams, accelerate delivery, and contribute effectively from day one with minimal supervision or mentoring overhead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead discovery and analysis activities independently, establishing the approach, scope, and priorities required to move work forward.
- Facilitate workshops and conduct stakeholder interviews to elicit, challenge, refine, and validate business requirements.
- Build a rapid understanding of business processes and translate them into accurate source-to-target data flows.
- Produce complete, development-ready analytical artefacts, including data mapping specifications, data lineage documentation, functional and non-functional requirements, business rules, and transformation logic.
- Develop sample SQL queries and data-validation artefacts to support solution design, implementation, and quality assurance.
- Provide timely requirements clarification and data-analysis support to developers and testers throughout delivery.
- Identify ambiguities, data risks, dependencies, and gaps early, and drive them to resolution with the appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintain strong working relationships with senior business representatives, data specialists, architects, developers, and testing teams.
- Support delivery velocity by working proactively and minimizing reliance on existing squad members for day-to-day guidance.
Required Experience and Knowledge:
- Extensive experience as a Senior Data Analyst or Data Systems Analyst in complex enterprise data environments.
- Strong knowledge of the Insights Platform and its role in enabling strategic business outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outputs with minimal supervision.
- Proven experience leading requirements workshops and stakeholder interviews across business and technology audiences.
- Deep understanding of enterprise data models, data lineage, data architecture, and associated governance concepts.
- Proven ability to understand unfamiliar business processes quickly and map end-to-end source-to-target data flows.
- Experience supporting development and testing teams through requirements clarification, solution design, and data-validation activities.
Technical and Analytical Capabilities:
- Advanced SQL: Ability to write sample queries, investigate data, reconcile results, and create validation artefacts that developers and testers can readily apply.
- Data analysis: Ability to profile datasets, identify anomalies, assess data quality, and translate findings into actionable requirements.
- Data modelling and lineage: Strong understanding of logical and physical data structures, system interfaces, lineage, and transformation pathways.
- Requirements engineering: Ability to distinguish business, functional, non-functional, data, and reporting requirements and define clear acceptance criteria.
