Sr. Automation Tester
About the role
As a Senior Automation Tester, you will make an impact by designing, building and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks that improve software quality and accelerate delivery. You will be a valued member of the Engineering team and work collaboratively with product developers and fellow engineers.
In this role, you will
- Automation & frameworks: Design, build and maintain scalable test automation frameworks from scratch or within existing codebases.
- CI/CD integration: Embed automated tests into continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines, such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions or GitLab, to run checks on every code commit.
- API & UI testing: Write automated tests for REST APIs, microservices and user interfaces.
- Debugging & triage: Investigate flaky tests, analyze build failures and work closely with product developers to fix root causes.
- Testability advocacy: Review product code and system architecture to make the application easier to test automatically.
Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 to 4 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, Ontario. What you need to have to be considered
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining automation testing frameworks using Selenium.
- Proficiency in UI automation testing.
- Experience with API automation and API automation testing for REST APIs and microservices.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions or GitLab.
- Strong debugging and triage skills, including investigating flaky tests and analyzing build failures.
These will help you stand out
- Experience reviewing product code and system architecture to improve testability.
- Familiarity with microservices-based testing approaches.
- Experience collaborating closely with product developers to resolve root causes.

Salary and Other Compensation
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $58,000.00 – 104,000.00 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
