About the job
Network Security Engineer
Role and Responsibilities:
- The Network Security Engineer will be responsible for managing security platforms across multiple environments; technologies include Web Proxy, WAF, IPS, and Email Security Solutions.
- Participate in rotation schedule to provide On-Call Support and perform Root Cause Analysis
- Perform time sensitive activities such as Block IoCs on managed tools
- Execute Change Requests within defined SLAs
- Collaborate with IT groups, Information Security teams, business units, vendors and client delivery teams for projects, integrations, deployments, remediation, and troubleshooting
- Platform management including maintenance, policy reviews, health checks
- Troubleshoot block events, failed email delivery, failed network and application connectivity, false positives, exceptions, resource utilization and performance issues
- Active participation in maturing of core security controls
- Monitor, manage and tune core network security controls.
- Develop, and deliver time sensitive security and compliance metrics and reports
- Develop and maintain documentation such as Use Cases, Standard Operating Procedures, Job Aids, Knowledgebase Articles, User Guides, and Training Material
- Monitor multiple ticketing systems and take ownership of service requests end to end
- Adhere to Corporate Security Standards and Internal Processes and Procedures
- Gather evidence for time sensitive Internal/External Audits and Assessments
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- Must possess a Strong Work Ethic, Sense of Urgency, Strong Initiative, and be a Self-Starter
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in information technology and 4-5 years of progressive information security experience across 2 or more of the following technologies:
- Web Proxy
- Email Security
- WAF
- IDS/IPS
- Web Proxy
- Understand how Web Proxy works, including whitelisting, URL Categorization, SSL Decryption, common ports, agent troubleshooting
- Understand how Email Delivery works and Email Security concepts, including encryption, common ports, DNS, SPF, DKIM, etc.
- Understand how WAF works and knowledge of Application Security concepts, including OWASP, Secure SDLF, Policy Enforcement, and Attack Signatures
- Ability to identify security risks and weaknesses and provide security mitigation and remediation recommendations
- Excellent technical aptitude, resourcefulness, critical thinking, troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of security best practices and industry standards
- Experience building, configuring, tuning and deploying these solutions is preferred: IDS/IPS, Web Proxy, Email Security (MTAs), WAF
- Experience in large enterprise, working with global teams across multiple time zones, cultures and languages is preferred
- Deep understanding of Computing and Networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, WiFi, routing, subnetting, DNS, Client/Server communications, and PKI is preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulatory requirements and HITRUST is preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field preferred
- GIAC, CISSP, CISM, or other relevant information security industry recognized certifications preferred.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, ISO, and PCI preferred
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Project Management skills a plus
- Experience with Automation is plus
