Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Java Developer (Microservices, Kafka, Cloud) with deep expertise in microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and cloud-native application development. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong experience in Java 15+, Spring Boot, Kafka, and modern containerization technologies. You will play a key role in designing and building scalable, high-performance applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and innovative solutions.
About the Role
As a Senior Java Developer, you will be responsible for developing enterprise-grade, cloud-native applications using modern Java frameworks and microservices architecture. You will design, build, and deploy scalable backend services while contributing to front-end integration using Angular.
A core part of your role will involve implementing event-driven architectures using Kafka and MQ to support real-time processing and communication across distributed systems. You will also work with Docker to containerize applications and ensure seamless deployment in cloud environments.
This role requires strong collaboration across engineering and product teams, as well as a commitment to coding best practices, performance optimization, and continuous improvement. You will actively contribute to architectural decisions, mentor team members, and stay current with evolving technologies in the Java ecosystem.

In this role, you will:
· Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance applications using Java (15+) and modern frameworks
· Build and manage microservices using Spring Boot and integrate with Angular-based front-end applications
· Develop and deploy containerized applications using Docker in cloud-native environments
· Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka and MQ for real-time messaging and data processing
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver high-quality software solutions
· Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize applications for performance, scalability, and security
· Refactor existing codebases to enhance efficiency, maintainability, and reliability
· Follow best practices in software development, including testing, code reviews, and documentation
· Stay updated with emerging tools, technologies, and industry trends in Java and cloud ecosystems

Required Qualifications
· 8+ years of hands-on experience in Java development with strong expertise in Java 15+
· Proven experience building RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot
· Strong experience with Docker and working in cloud-native environments
· Hands-on expertise with Kafka and MQ for event-driven architecture and messaging systems
· Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
· Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and Agile development methodologies
· Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
· Knowledge of Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms
· Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito
· Exposure to front-end technologies, particularly Angular (Angular 19+) or RxJS

Salary and Other Compensation
Applications will be accepted until June 14th, 2026.
The annual salary for this position ranges from $70,000 – $120,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to applicable plan terms.
